Media Markt is a large German retailer of consumer electronics with stores throughout Europe. It opened its first store in 1979 in Munich and now has over 1,000 stores. Media Markt uses aggressive advertising campaigns with loud TV ads and billboards to promote deals and low prices on electronics products. However, some criticize that while prices are advertised as low, the quality may not be the best and the aggressive ads can pressure consumers into overspending. The model has proven successful in attracting customers and generating sales across Europe.
Media Markt is the largest consumer electronics retailer in Europe, operating over 1000 stores across 14 countries since 1979. In Belgium, Media Markt has 24 stores and a successful web shop launched in 2013. The document discusses Media Markt's omni-channel strategy to enhance the customer experience, including electronic shelf labels for real-time pricing, online ordering with in-store pickup, services offered both online and in physical stores, and using tablets in stores. The conclusion is that an omni-channel approach delivers more value for customers by creating a seamless shopping experience across channels.
Media 2020 - The Future of the Media Industry (NL)MediaSpecs
Soms verrassend, soms confronterend, soms tegenstrijdig.
Media Markt, Europe’s largest consumer electronics retailer, entered China in 2010 by opening its second-largest store worldwide. Understand how Media Markt China created a novel ERP suite within 12 months by a collaborative, distributed team leveraging an agile scrum methodology. This ERP implementation facilitated the opening of stores in Asia and prepared for an aggressive growth of the Chinese market.
The METRO Group operates various strong brands across Europe, Africa, and Asia, including Metro/Makro Cash & Carry, Media Market, Saturn, and Galeria Kaufhof. It focuses on customer orientation, increasing efficiency, and expanding its market position. The company aims to source products and operate its supply chain with high standards for quality, working conditions, and environmental protection. It works to understand changing customer needs through ongoing dialogue and tailored information.
The document discusses strategies for marketing to Generation Z consumers. It emphasizes engaging with them on their terms through contextual conversations on social media and sharing content in short, snackable formats. Brands are encouraged to listen first before speaking in order to understand Generation Z consumers' passions and build long-term relationships through personalized interactions and shared experiences. The future of marketing will involve having conversations with customers to sell products in a way that also builds the brand.
The document discusses Porter's five forces model for analyzing the competitiveness and attractiveness of industries. It explains the five competitive forces as the threat of new entrants, the threat of substitutes, buyer power, supplier power, and rivalry among existing competitors. It provides examples of factors that determine the degree of competition within each force. The five forces framework allows analysis of an industry's structure to determine its overall attractiveness and the sources of competitive pressure.

The document discusses strategic brand management and positioning. It outlines the four main steps in the strategic brand management process: identifying brand positioning and values, planning marketing programs, implementing programs, and measuring performance. It also discusses determining desired brand knowledge structures, establishing points-of-parity and points-of-difference, communicating these to build brand equity, and updating positioning over time. Core brand values and developing an impactful brand mantra are also covered.

Brand positioning refers to differentiating a product or service from competitors by fitting it to a specific market segment based on benefits. An effective brand position is unique, credible, and sustainable in the consumer's mind. It clearly communicates the key benefit the brand provides. Developing a strong position requires relevance, clarity, distinctiveness, coherence, commitment, patience, and courage from management over time. Successful positioning strategies can target attributes like size, shape, price, quality, intended user demographic, or cultural symbols.

Zitat in Abbildung 3.16).
