Blank Canvas is a program which taps into what Joseph Beuys calls „the artist in every one
of us“. Combining the sensation of discovering your art skills with a specific business or team
building task is an extremely powerful tool. Great for reboosting teams, strengthening
corporate cultures and many other business driven goals.

Black Canvas ist ein Programm . Ausgehend von Joseph Beuys´ Zitat „Jeder von uns ist ein
Künstler i“ verbindet Blank Canvas die Entdeckung der eigenen künstlerischen Fähigkeiten
mit einem vordefinierten Unternehmensprozess wie Teambildung. Black Canvas ist ein
hervorragendes Instrument, um Teams einen neuen Kick zu geben, die Firmenkultur zu
stärken oder andere Unternehmensziele zu erreichen.

6. How it works
Typically, we would work with a team of people from one company. Before the program we
set ourselves a goal: i.e. motivate everyone to get on board with new business objectives,
shift in corporate culture etc. Based on the final goal we then create a specific structure for
the program. So each program is different. Then we split into groups roll up our leaves and
get in front of the blank canvas.
Everyone is involved, everyone has a great time and everyone creates. We guide everyone
in small steps as well. It is a very easy program and very often the people you would not
expect to do so contribute the most.
So funktioniert´s
Üblicherweise arbeiten wir mit einem Team aus nur einem Unternehmen zusammen.
Bevor es losgeht, stecken wir uns ein gemeinsames Ziel: andere motivieren sich stärker zu
beteiligen, Veränderungen in der Unternehmenskultur herbeiführen, usw.. Ausgehend von
diesem Ziel entwerfen wir ein individuelles Programm. Danach werden Gruppen eingeteilt
und Leinwände ausgeteilt.
Jeder macht mit und lässt seiner Kreativität freien Lauf. Dabei begleiten wir jeden Teilnehmer
Schritt für Schritt – ein einfaches Programm, das zur Folge hat, dass oft Leute, von denen
man es am wenigsten erwartet, Führung übernehmen und einen ungewöhnlich hohen
Beitrag in ihrer Gruppe leisten. So funktioniert die Leinwand oft als „Katalysator“ der eigenen
Performance.

9. Why is it good?
Blank Canvas is a program that always operates around a very business driven backbone.
However, through creative expression molded out of opinions, desires, emotions and
personal preferences it creates a real bond, commitment and belief. I.e. the result of each
session is real paintings made by teams. They are usually surprisingly good and their
creators are proud of them. As a result they identify with what their creations stand for. I.e.
above mentioned new values, business objectives etc.
Warum das Ganze?
Black Canvas befasst sich immer mit einem konkreten unternehmensspezifischen
Hintergrund. Was es auch immer sein mag, durch die kreative Entfaltung individueller
Anschauungen, persönlicher Wünsche, Empfindungen und Vorlieben schafft Black Canvas
eine feste Verbindung aus gemeinsamen Bekenntnis und eigener Überzeugung. Im
Ergebnis heißt das: Jedes unserer Programme schafft „kleine“ Kunstwerke, auf die Ihre
„Schöpfer“ stolz sind. Die positive Folge: Identifikation mit dem Werk und seinem
Hintergrund/Motiv, respektive mit dem o.a. neuen Werten oder Anschauungen.

14. So what are you left with?
It is not only about the paintings that are a great decoration for the reception, lobby or
meeting room. It is about what people put in them. it is the connection they have with
whatever went into them. e.g. if all the paintings represent new corporate values you have a
very high chance that the team is going to take these values as their own and cherish them
from now on.
Was bleibt am Ende?
Es geht nicht nur um das Bild, das sich im Eingang oder im Besprechungsraum gut macht.
Es geht darum, was die Leute in die Bilder mit einbringen, genauer gesagt um die
Verbindung damit. Symbolisieren die Bilder bspw. ein neues Wertesystem, stehen die
Chancen gut, dass das Team die Werte an- und übernimmt.

16. The structure Strukturelles
The preparation
Every company if it has a culture has its values or rules which are a thankful platform for
MBA trainings. These values or any other motivational sentences when they have the chance
to swim through the the left hemisphere get touchable and loose their abstract value and are
transformed into emotions.
Die Vorbereitung
Jedes Unternehmen, egal ob es über eine spürbare Unternehmenskultur verfügt oder nicht,
hat seine eigenen Werte und Vorschriften. Sie sind eine willkommene Vorlage für jedes
Management Training. Diese Unternehmenswerte oder jedes andere „Motivationsrezept“ wird
durch die stärkere Beanspruchung der rechten Gehirnhälfte – sie steuert die Intuition,
Kreativität, Symbole und Gefühle – greifbar, konkreter und in Emotionen verwandelt.

18. The seminar
The company is split into groups of 2-4 people. These little groups get
motivational intro presentation about fine arts starting in Alta Mira
cave paintings and ending with purely emotional abstract paintings
of our century. Than they start creating their theme while I control the
process. The work is done on canvas to give it a higher affinity to arts.

Das Seminar
Die Teilnehmer werden in Gruppen von zwei bis vier Personen
aufgeteilt. Sie erhalten eine Kurzeinführung in die Bildende Kunst –
angefangen bei den Höhlenmalereien von Alta Mira bis hin zur
abstrakten Malerei der Neuzeit. Danach folgt die künstlerische Phase,
in der die Gruppen ihr Thema auf die Leinwand bringen. Dieser
Prozess wird kreativ begleitet. Das Arbeiten auf einer echten
Leinwand gibt dem ganzen Werk eine noch größere Affinität zur
Kunst.

20. The come togather
After the whole team process of filling the canvas with visual content is ready, the teams choose a
presenter, who explains the topic they had to transform into a picture to all seminar attendants.When
the presentations are finished the pictures are displayed and the individuals evaluate the work of
competitive teams. So a winner team can be chosen and a come together party can start.
Das Zusammenkommen
Nachdem die Leinwand bemalt und die künstlerische Arbeit abgeschlossen ist, wählt das Team einen
Präsentator/Sprecher. Er/Sie erklärt allen Teilnehmern das eigene Thema und den Entstehungsprozess
des Bildes.
Nach Beendigung der Präsentationen werden die Bilder ausgestellt und die Teilnehmer haben die
Möglichkeit andere Gruppenbilder zu bewerten. Am Ende küren die Teilnehmer ein Gewinner Team
und die Party kann beginnen.
