MANIFESTO FOR SLOW THINKING IN PROJECTSKaren Schmidt
In his bestseller Thinking, Fast and Slow, economics Nobel Prize laureate Daniel Kahneman describes the dichotomy between two different “systems” of thinking. As Kahneman explains, it is inherently difficult for people to control fast and intuitive thought. Sometimes fast thinking crops up in situations where we can neither use it nor be conscious of it. Challenging and interdisciplinary projects are such situations. It is exactly in the start-up and definition phases of such initiatives that we run the rather certain risk of experiencing undesirable effects from fast thinking. Therefore we should – not only but especially – learn to “think slow” in the early stages of a project.

The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.
How do I start when creating a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation? What are the things to focus on? How should I approach the design? These slides try to answer these questions.

The document discusses an iterative approach to software development called Scrum. It involves breaking the project into small increments called sprints, prioritizing work, daily stand-up meetings, and iterative planning, development and review cycles. The goal is to develop working software rapidly through prototypes, get early and frequent feedback to reduce risks, and continuously improve based on lessons learned.
Programs and Portfolios - Multi-project ManagementBryan Fenech
In this presentation we will cover
- Definitions and comparison of programs and portfolios
- Organisational context
- Origins – multi-project management challenges and industry responses
Getting Things Done (GTD) is a geek-friendly task (and life) management methodology by David Allen. This slide was used in my presentation at Barcamp Bangkok 4 (2010)
The document provides installation instructions for installing the RCCI rear center console in a Tesla Model S. It describes using a wire clothes hanger tool to pull a strap through the rear seat to attach the RCCI to an anchor bar accessible from the trunk. It then connects the front of the RCCI to the lower front edge of the rear seat with a strap and hook. Removal is the reverse process of undoing the straps. It also provides notes about matching wood veneers and ensuring the rear strap is securely attached for safety.
The document discusses innovation at Nokia and highlights the importance of an "and" approach. It provides examples of Nokia's most important innovations over time that demonstrate decreasing size and power consumption of mobile phones. The document advocates for both exploring new emerging technologies through research as well as building on existing core technologies. It also emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and taking multiple approaches to innovation rather than a single recipe.
The document discusses project portfolio management (PPM) as a holistic approach to strategically manage initiatives through balancing risk and value, aligning projects to strategy, and using a defined multi-stage life cycle from scoping to realization. PPM aims to select the optimal mix of projects based on cost, return, risk, and other factors to maximize portfolio value while balancing resources across the project portfolio.
