In this industry, there is a basic process. Sell products, make products and deliver them to your customer.
Inaccurate sales Orders communicated from the dealer to the manufacturer lead to longer lead times because you have to spend a lot of time validating orders. Still doesn’t guarantee that orders get manufactured 100% correctly.
When the orders are moving through your manufacturing process, you don’t have enough visibility to communicate order status to your dealers or retailers.
It’s hard for you to publish new products and product changes, much less keep up with market trends that indicate that you need to offer more product options with shorter lead times.
Redundant and disjointed systems cause you to enter the same data in multiple places, leave more room for error, cause barriers between departments and contribute to long lead times. It’s hard to see the whole picture, so it’s very difficult to make the right business decisions.
Once an order has been released to the shop floor, you lose visibility of its details so it’s hard to track the order, gather the order together when it’s time to ship and see problems when they happen, rather than when it’s already too far down the line.
The specials process is too special. It’s difficult to communicate what needs to be done and it’s even hard to push them through the plant without consistent paperwork and machine codes. Again long lead times.

Sales order data that originates at the point of sale gets entered into 2020 Insight automatically via the 2020 Design import. This automatic communication from dealer to manufacturer paired with electronic validation greatly improves order accuracy.
If you have orders that can’t be imported, you can enter them manually. The order configuration is still electronically validated.
You process orders and when you’re ready, release them to manufacturing.
2020 Insight Foundation uses parametric, construction-based engineering models to automatically generate dynamic bills of materials, drawings, routings and CNC codes for standard items as well as semi-custom items and specials—when you need them.
One engineering model represents many products and you can reduce the need for storing and maintaining static bills of materials, drawings and CNC programs.
Routings are configured based on product characteristics. A simple example is that if a component is made with wood or veneer, then it needs to go through your finishing room. If a component is made with laminate or melamine, it does not need to go through your finishing room.
Create production orders using order request dates or shipping schedules. The system automatically creates work orders for your components and assemblies. Insight Foundation will output pick lists for stock parts and procurement lists for purchased items.

Improve production scheduling: Create production schedules that maximize resource utilization by matching sales orders to manufacturing processes. Create more scheduling options: Organize production schedules based on dates, product features, shipment schedules, customer requirements, or order characteristics.
With 2020 Insight Foundation, you can organize and sequence production across multiple independent or connected machines and work centers.
Note: This diagram shows an example set of workcenters. Manufacturers can add and remove work centers as necessary.
Insight presents focused worklists to individual workcenters so that operators and production managers know what to do in the moment and what to do next. Worklists show operators targeted information that is required for the job at hand, making it easy for them to stay focused on what they’re doing rather than sorting through piles of information that isn’t relevant to them.
Keep in mind that semi-custom items and specials can run through this same process.
2020 Insight Foundation automatically generates CNC code and cutlists and delivers to the machines on the production floor for point-to-points, routers and panel saws. You can eliminate manual programming and static program storage. Use panel saw cutlists to optimize cutting operations and our true shape nesting for routers helps you improve yields and reduce material waste.
Again, keep in mind that semi-custom items and specials can run through this same process.
