This document provides an overview of training concepts and best practices for designing and delivering effective training sessions. It discusses what training is, the roles and responsibilities of trainers, adult learning theory, the training design process, and tips for facilitating dynamic sessions. The key aspects covered include conducting a needs assessment, writing learning objectives, selecting appropriate activities, facilitating participation, and closing sessions successfully.
The document provides a list of activities and ideas that can be used for modern foreign language (MFL) lessons. It includes activities that develop different skills like reading, numeracy, listening, speaking, writing, and using ICT tools and dictionaries. Some specific activity ideas mentioned are "Sit 'n' Spin", "Trapdoor", "Darts", using adjectives for homework, creative writing descriptions, "Guess Who", challenge capsules, guessing songs, number flashcards, question chairs, guessing words, and having a phrase of the week. The document also includes some example materials for activities like color words, a mini dialogue, sentence completion, and a fill-in-the-blank paragraph using dice.
The document discusses different methods of encoding and modulating digital and analog signals for transmission. It covers digital-to-digital encoding techniques like unipolar, polar, Manchester and differential Manchester encoding. It also discusses analog-to-digital conversion techniques like PAM and PCM. Finally, it discusses analog-to-analog modulation techniques like AM, FM and PM and how they modulate parameters of a carrier signal to transmit an analog signal.
Anatomy of a Container: Namespaces, cgroups & Some Filesystem Magic - LinuxConJérôme Petazzoni
Containers are everywhere. But what exactly is a container? What are they made from? What's the difference between LXC, butts-nspawn, Docker, and the other container systems out there? And why should we bother about specific filesystems?
In this talk, Jérôme will show the individual roles and behaviors of the components making up a container: namespaces, control groups, and copy-on-write systems. Then, he will use them to assemble a container from scratch, and highlight the differences (and likelinesses) with existing container systems.
The document provides guidance on conducting an effective literature review. It explains that a literature review (1) develops understanding of a field of study, synthesizes existing work through critical analysis, and must be current; (2) can be part of a larger research study to set context/scope and justify methodology, or a standalone assignment; and (3) is not a simple list of sources but requires making an argument. The review process involves selecting a topic, extensively searching relevant literature, developing arguments addressing what is known and how it relates to research questions, systematically surveying and critiquing the literature to analyze themes and debates, and writing a synthesis that builds on previous work.

This document provides guidance on interpreting optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans of the retina. It begins by outlining key principles, such as utilizing fundus images and understanding the significance of OCT findings. It then details a 5-step process for evaluating scans: 1) assessing scan quality, 2) rating the overall retinal profile, 3) evaluating the foveal profile, 4) identifying any foveal cut, and 5) carrying out a structural assessment. This includes observing layer alterations, identifying additional structures, and using standardized terminology to describe pathological features. Key pathological structures and findings are defined, including changes affecting the retinal pigment epithelium, sub-RPE space, and intraretinal and subretinal spaces.

Neo4j is a powerful and expressive tool for storing, querying and manipulating data. However modeling data as graphs is quite different from modeling data under a relational database. In this talk, Michael Hunger will cover modeling business domains using graphs and show how they can be persisted and queried in Neo4j. We'll contrast this approach with the relational model, and discuss the impact on complexity, flexibility and performance.

Transparent magazine: SUSTAINABLE FASHION IN THE DIGITAL ERA betterplace lab
One of the key principles that is shifting production practices in relation to textiles is transparency. It brings to light the social and economic impact of what what is hanging in our closet and even tells us the story of how it got there. It alters the communication between operators in supply chains as much as it causes firms to communicate differently with consumers. Transparency puts pressure on firms to be accountable. Wasteful production methods and exploitative labour practices become apparent, as do possibilities like re-inserting what was formerly dumped and discarded back into mass production. Coupled with accountability, transparency leads us to rethink what we wear, how we perceive the steps involved in its production, and what we will or will not accept.
This publication aims to provide an overview of the fashion and textile industries, asking which digital initiatives have explicitly gotten underway to force changes in production processes, even for large operations. We cover the fields of experts, CEOs and designers, profile companies offering the possibilities of integrating data, mapping supply chains and tracing materials.
