2. Introduction
• Screenshots of the fine dust pollution are taken from luftdaten.info to get an impression
how pollution with fine dust (PM2.5) over time and space in New Years Eve 2020
• This year the pollution was much lower than the years before in Germany
• In UK, Netherlands, Poland, Italy pollutionwas very high as every year far upon normally allowed
limits
• For comparison screen shots from two year before are attached behind.
• Server performance was good so that no details are missing
• Roughly 4,500 tons in former years of finedust emitted
• But only some 2,050 tons in 2019/2020

• For comparison screen shots from the year before are placed on the same slide if available
• Server performance was slow so that some details are missing
• Roughly 4,500 tons of finedust emitted (10% less than last year?)
• 15% of finedust emissions in street traffic
• 2,25 % of all finedust emissions (coal and wood burning, ships, cars, etc.)

34. Findings
• The pollution is increasing all the evening with climax at 00:25 on New Year
• The Netherlands start pollution in the afternoon
• Server is very slow in the night: a lot of people are watching the data in real time
(should be put on Kubernetes containers with load balancing to keep good response times)
• In the next morning at 12:00 air is not clean again as in the year before at 8:00
• The comparison with last year shows clearly that this year was worse than last year
