PLM – Aspect Review for Tool Room Chemicals
 Goal: Document the life cycle of the chemicals that travel into and
out of the Tool Room
 70 chemicals are listed
 Focused on 4 specific chemicals
 SharpCool GP Semi-Synthetic Oil – Coolant
 Euro Supreme Synthetic Fluid – EDM oil
 Resin Socks – EDM socks
 Waste Scraps/Chips
 Source of all information: Tool Makers

PLM – Aspect Review for Tool Room Chemicals

Main Project – Universal Work Station
 Goal: Universal set up to simply hold any part and set up any sensor
to test if it is functioning correctly
 Specifications:
 Portable
 Autonomous 24V power supply
 800mm square board
 Easy to fabricate and simple to use
 Flexibility and open mind is key
Overview

Part Holding Portion
 NX Software Final Models
 These hold any part, any shape and size

Sensor Holding Portion
 NX Software Final Models
 These hold any sensor and have full mobility

Dimensioning Portion
 All 22 parts dimensioned and sent to Tool Room
 Each part is made out of 1018 steel for its magnetic properties

Complications Encountered
 Unfamiliar with all the parts made and sensors used at MSI
 Thinking of ideas for holders that are universal
 Scaling the sketches to make sense
 Creating parts that are able to be fabricated in the Tool Room

Final Outcome/What’s next
 All goals and specifications are met
 Currently parts are being fabricated
 Parts such as screws, nuts, magnets
have been purchased
 Next step is to assemble this work
station when everything arrives
 This will be very useful for the EQR
Department
 Project tested my creativity, ability to
learn quickly and my skills gained
from previous experiences
