PREDIMAX® Injection Hose
Injection Hose for Economic Sealing of Construction Joints in Concrete Structures
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
PREDIMAX 11 and PREDIMAX 19
Product
PREDIMAX is a double-jacketed PVC based hose with
offset openings and/or slots for outlet of compressed
injection material to seal joints in subterranean con-
structions. The openings in the interior hose are offset
from the openings in the outer hose, that is to say, ce-
ment paste is prevented from entering.
For installation, you have to fix the injection hose to the
first concrete section by means of some suitable fas-
tening and imbed it with the next concrete-work phase.
Use (in general)
The injection hose is used for sealing of construction
joints which are permanently or occasionally exposed
to loads due to subterranean, down-the-slope or sur-
face water.
Construction joints which are required for structural
engineering reasons can be designed non-positive and
watertight.
Features for Installation
 Sufficient cross section of the duct (reducing inner
friction of injection material thus allowing economical
compression lengths) and permeability of the com-
pression duct and outlet openings after concreting.
 Cement paste is prevented from entering during
concrete work because of the hose-in-hose system
 Robust during installation under building-site condi-
tions, fastening system included
 Easy handling and time-saving fitting
 No unwanted twisting when installing from the reel,
because hose is circular
 Outlet of injection material from the concreted hose
system even under slight pressure, that is to say,
outlet of material is assured to all sides
 Smooth surface to avoid unwanted bonding between
injection hose and concrete. PREDIMAX may there-
fore be applied quite easily with any injection materi-
al.
 Favourable relation between price and performance,
maximum reliability, for multiple injections.
 Suitable for injection of regular cement (PREDIMAX
19 only), fine cement, ultra fine cement, PU resin or
PU foam resin, EP resin or acrylates
 Can be used for multiple injections
 Product certification to DIN EN ISO 9001
 Injection hose with continuous markings of meter
length and control number
 PREDIMAX injection hose is a unique, patented
technology made in Switzerland

CEM 11 Injection Tube
Injection Tube for Economic Sealing of Cold Joints in Concrete Structures
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
An efficient, well-priced injection tube system for structural waterproofing
Product
PVC based injection hose for economical sealing of any
construction joints in subterranean construction.
Single-wall hose of PVC based material, with slightly
cone-shaped openings and slots from inside to outside
for the compressed injection material to be squeezed
out in order to seal the joints in underground construc-
tions. The openings get closed by their geometry thus
avoiding efficiently any penetration of cement paste into
the injection hose.
The smooth surface of CEM 11 eliminates any unwant-
ed bond between injection hose and concrete. The
CEM 11 injection tube system can be used for any
injection resin. Injections are possible even after years,
because the smooth surface CEM 11 does not allow
any sinter deposits or obstructions in the system.
Use
The CEM 11 injection hose is used for sealing of con-
struction joints which are permanently or occasionally
exposed to groundwater or surface water.
CEM 11 is an efficient, effective injection tube system
used to prepare waterproof, gastight and frictional con-
struction joints.
Application
Suitable for all kind of vertical and horizontal construc-
tion joint / cold joint sealing!
Product Characteristics
 Sufficiently dimensioned inside diameter and permea-
bility of the injection hose and the outlet openings af-
ter concrete work.
 Prevents cement paste from penetrating during con-
crete work.
 Sturdy when being incorporated under building-site
conditions with fastening system included.
 Easy handling, simple time-saving fitting
 No unwanted twisting when you incorporate from the
coil as there is a circular hose.
 Material to be injected leaves the hose system em-
bedded in concrete, even under reasonable pressure,
that is to say material is reliably coming out to all
sides (opening injection-pressure min. 0.5 bar).
 Can be used for multiple injections by using acryIate-
gel or PU-gel.
 Outlet opening shaping conically from inside towards
outside. Some trifle opening resistance only has to be
overcome therefore.
 Smooth surface, hence no unwanted bond between
injection hose and concrete.
 Very favourable balance of price and performance.

Installation of the BPA Injection Hose System
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The PREDIMAX/CEM 11 injection hose is easy to install when you consider the following items
of this installation manual:
Put the hose in the middle of the cold joint. The connec-
tion, ventilating hose / PREDIMAX/CEM 11 has to be
placed completely inside the concrete structure.
The hose has to be well set on the cold joint and has to
be fastened with hose clamps at approx. 15 cm dis-
tance (depending on surface of the concrete of the
construction joint).
Overlapping: The overlapping should at least be 10 cm.
The injection ends shall be placed towards outside the
formwork in order to be easily found again. Two differ-
ent possibilities are shown:
Installation of the injection hose system by using shut-
ter connector including rubber plate and a spider (for
easy installation on the reinforcement)
Installing the ventilation hoses inside an end box:
Important: Ventilation hoses have to be fixed in order to
avoid a replacement during the concrete work.

QUELLMAX® Plus
Bentonite Waterstop Tape with Patented Rain Protection
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP)
Product
QUELLMAX Plus is a technically matured and moreo-
ver very price worthy swellable bentonite joint-sealing
tape with crystallisation additives. QUELLMAX is used
as a waterstop in concrete construction joints.
QUELLMAX is tested up to 7 bar water pressure.
QUELLMAX Plus
The swellable bentonite waterstop tape consists of
bentonite embedded in a matrix of highly molecular
polyisobutylene caoutchouc and special fillers and
crystalline admixtures (patented composition).
Contact with rain or general site water will not activate
the product, but when QUELLMAX Plus is covered by
concrete, the alkaline environment breaks down the
coating and the QUELLMAX Plus will then be activated
by leak water.
Features
QUELLMAX Plus is the only swellable bentonite joint-
sealing tape that can be used without any compromise,
because
 QUELLMAX Plus can be installed independently of
any weather condition, that means no unwanted
swelling during installation (rain-protection)
 Patented coating delays swelling from contact with
water of 72 hours.
Application
QUELLMAX Plus should be placed in in-situ concrete
constructions because the swellable bentonite water-
stop tape will be completely covered on all sides by
concrete (min. 8 cm concrete cover are required) to
make sure that the swelling sealing pressure can be
built up.
Advantages
 QUELLMAX Plus seals in two phases:
-First phase: sealing by immediate swelling
-Second phase: sealing by crystallisation
 Great swelling capacity (> 300 %)
 Easy Handling
 No time-consuming setting on edges
 Self injecting effect, that is to say penetration into any
cracks and cavities because of a powerful swelling.
Second sealing process by concrete crystallisation
 Swelling and shrinkage are infinitely reversible
 Dimensionally extremely stable, not sticky, even at
high temperatures in summer
 High mineral portion, hence no fatigue of materials:
Sodium-bentonite reacts even decades after having
been incorporated
 No negative influence on the successful building-site
routine

QUELLMAX® Blackstop
Standard Bentonite Waterstop Tape
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP)
Product
QUELLMAX Blackstop is a technically matured and
moreover very well-priced swellable bentonite joint-
sealing tape with crystallisation additives (patented).
QUELLMAX is used as a waterstop in concrete con-
struction joints. QUELLMAX is tested and approved up
to 7 bar water pressure. QUELLMAX is also tested for
use in changing water tables.
QUELLMAX
The swellable bentonite waterstop tape consists of
bentonite embedded in a matrix of highly molecular
polyisobutylene caoutchouc and special fillers and
crystalline admixtures (patented composition).
Supplied as a robust strip, QUELLMAX is simply fas-
tened onto an existing joint face before the next con-
crete pour. Any subsequent water leakage through the
joint activates the QUELLMAX, which takes up leaking
water and swells. This swelling action expands the
product into the water flow paths (active self-injecting
process) and effectively seals against water leakage
through the cold joint.
Features
Compared with any other traditional joint sealants (PVC
joint-sealing tape, joint-sealing sheets, etc.),
QUELLMAX Blackstop is quite economical and reliable,
because
 sources of errors are reduced to minimum
 the best ratio of price and performance is assured
Application
QUELLMAX shall be placed only in in-situ concrete
constructions because the swellable bentonite water-
stop tape shall be completely covered on all sides by
concrete (min. 8 cm concrete cover are required) to
make sure that the swelling sealing pressure can be
built up.
Advantages
 QUELLMAX seals in two phases:
-First phase: sealing by immediate swelling
-Second phase: sealing by crystallisation

CEMswell – Hydrophilic Swelling Rubber
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
CEMswell – Hydrophilic Rubber
Shield-driven tunnels (TBM) are currently being used
for construction work at even greater depths and higher
water-pressure environments. The resultant need for
improved water sealing characteristics is best met by
water-expanding sealant materials, which swell on
contact with water.
Introduction
Shield-driven tunnels are common features of such
construction works as subways, water supply and sew-
er systems in cities, tunnels, cable lying, etc. Recent
trends in shield-driven tunnels have been towards new
applications, increase and decrease in section size,
and also construction at greater depths or under the
seabed where measures against high-pressure water
are of vital importance. CEMswell is a hydrophilic high
quality product for sealing all joints in prefabricated
concrete constructions.
New Type of Rubber Seal
CEMswell is a new expanding rubber sealing material
that is intended mainly for sealing of joints in tunnels
and shafts. It has been developed for the successfully
use in tunnels in pressure conditions up to 5 bar water
pressure.
Expansion up to 400 %
CEMswell is an extruded rubber-based compound
made from butyl rubber, hydrophilic resin, polyethylene,
silicon and special admixtures. On contact with water it
is capable of swelling up to 4 times its own volume, and
under conditions of confinement will mould itself to
exert pressure evenly on the surrounding surfaces,
even when these are rough and the gaps to be filled
are of uneven size. This feature assures a good water-
proof seal without the need for any sort of high-
compression force.
Shape and Size
CEMswell is available in numerous standard shapes
and sizes, and can also be extruded in non-standard
shapes to meet client’s special requirements or in com-
bination with ordinary non-expanding rubber.
Three main grades are produced and in stock:
18x7mm: 6 rolls à 12 m (72m / box)

of the products CEMswell swelling rubber and
CEM 11/PREDIMAX 11 injection hose. Both together
they result in the unique double sealing of construction
joints (swelling and injecting).
The injection tube ensures the injection material to be
squeezed out at any time.
CEMswell “Inject”
The profile is used for sealing construction joints which
are permanently or occasionally exposed to groundwa-
ter, slope water and/or surface water. The structurally
necessary construction joints can be sealed tight to
water pressure.

CEMflex VB - Steel Plate Waterstop
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP)
CEMflex VB - Steel Plate Waterstop
The CEMflex VB elements are provided with a special
coating on both sides.
The connection of the special coating to the concrete
prevents any water-flow through the concrete construc-
tion joint.
Besides the extremely good connection of the special
coated steel plate to the surrounding concrete there are
some other chemical reactions such as light swelling,
crystallization, self-healing of concrete cracks and a
natural sintering / crystallization (natural formation of
limestone) of concrete cracks.
Only 3 cm of concrete cover on both sides are neces-
sary to seal the cold joint up to 5 bar (50 m water-
pressure)
The elements are 2,000 mm long, 150 mm high and
about 1.25 mm thick. The special coating is not sticky
and therefore no protection foil is necessary, which has
to be removed before concrete work starts.
Areas of Application CEMflex VB
CEMflex VB can be used in all construction joints,
horizontally or vertically, up to a maximum water-
pressure of 80 meter (8 bar).
Areas of application:
 Horizontal + vertical sealing of any concrete con-
struction joints!
 Waterproof cold joints in foundation-, basement-,
civil engineering work as well as in tunnel construc-
tions, underground constructions and special-
purpose solutions.
CEMflex VB Product Characteristics
Galvanized steel metal plate (b = 0.75 mm / l = 2,000
mm / h = 150 mm) provided on both sides with a 0,5
mm thick special coating which sticks to the concrete
chemically and seals permanently the joint which has to
be sealed.
CEMflex VB is an active steel plate waterstop!
The sealing function is based on the active crystalliza-
tion process as well as the supported natural sintering
process of concrete.
Characteristics CEMflex VB
The extreme good connection behaviour to the con-
crete is responsible for the very good waterproofing
property.
CEMflex VB supports the natural sintering / crystalliza-
tion of the cold joint as well as the cracks.
Installation of CEMflex VB
CEMflex VB with coating on both sides has to be in-
stalled directly on top of the reinforcement.
CEMflex VB has to be fixed by using the special omega
steel plate holder.
The overlapping has to be at least 5 cm.
Form of Delivery / Storage
The single element is 2,000 mm long, 150 mm high and
1.25 mm thick. In wooden boxes of 50 pieces = 100 m.
CEMflex VB can be stored in dry and cold conditions.

CEMflex VB
CEMflex VB steel plate reacts because of its various encapsulated components in the patented coating in combination
(direct contact to concrete) with the components of the surrounded concrete.
Besides the extremely good connection of the special coated steel plate to the surrounding concrete there are some
chemical reactions starting such as light swelling, crystallization, self-healing of concrete cracks and a natural sintering /
crystallization (natural formation of limestone) of concrete joints as well as cracks.
The components of the special coating need water or water-based liquids in order to start automatically the chemical
reaction; this natural crystallisation process is an active self-healing process!
►CEMflex VB is an “active“, water reacting steel plate waterstop!
This active self sealing process starts automatically by water contact. The function of this sealing process is secured
even after decades of installation.
By the use of CEMflex VB there will always be an automatically (active) waterproofing reaction / process. The crystalli-
zation, self-healing of concrete cracks will penetrate deeper and deeper in the concrete structure.
The waterproofing reaction of CEMflex VB steel plate waterstop has been tested on the independent/public Institution of
the University and is confirmed with an abP (General Building Code Test Certificate / Approval)
CEMflex VB The overlapping area of CEMflex VB (only 5 cm required)
white crystallization will react and seal automatically by water ingress!
is already shown. The active waterproofing process is finished within only a
few hours and as a result water has no chance to enter!

Application
Prior to application, CEMproof Add X is added to Seal-
Stop F to increase its reactivity. The reaction mix thus
obtained maintains its state for at least 8 hours without
significant viscosity increase. After mixing with
CEMproof Add X, a skin may be formed on the surface
of the liquid by reaction with the humidity contained in
the air; but this does not affect the pumping operation.
SealStop F / CEMproof Add X products are injected as
a single component via packers into the water-bearing
zones using manual or motor-driven pumps. When in
contact with water, the reaction mix foams up strongly
and hardens. If the zone to be sealed contains insuffi-
cient water, a full hardening of the SealStop F mass
can be achieved by preliminary or subsequent water
injection.
In contrast to the two-component systems, SealStop F
will not harden in the injection pipe for hours since con-
tact with the water contained in the ground is necessary
for hardening.
Preferably, SealStop F is used for stopping the water
flow from working joint with preinstalled grouting hoses
such as PREDIMAX injection hose systems or CEM 11
injection hose system. Immediately after stopping the
water flow by pumping SealStop F (single-component
foaming PU-resin), CEMproof CrackSeal (two-
component PU-resin) has to be injected to achieve a
permanent elastic seal.
Immediately after ending the injection work flush the
pump with CEMproof CleanEx in order to prevent clog-
ging. For standstill periods of more than one day, fill the
pump with CEMproof CleanEx afterwards.
For the consolidation of soil SealStop F is used without
CEMproof Add X and has to be injected via injection
hoses (PREDIMAX/CEM 11) or other injection pipes
into natural moist or wet sand. The maximum radius of
injection is approx. 30 cm; with a bigger radius the core
is left uncured. The injection pressure should be no
greater than the overburden pressure in order to avoid
fracturing of the ground.
Recommendation:
We recommend storing the products prior to processing
for at least 12 h at a minimum temperature of 15 °C in
order to achieve the recommended processing temper-
ature of between 15 °C to 30 °C. When the material is
warmed up, local overheating, e.g. at the container
wall, must be avoided by any means.
18
Composition and Properties
Components
SealStop F consists of modified isocyanates with sof-
teners and additives. CEMproof Add X is a catalyst
blend.
System:
SealStop F cures by reaction with ambient water yield-
ing a polyurethane / polyurea foam. The expansion rate
of the foam depends in the first place on the backpres-
sure affected by the propagation of the resin into the
structure to be sealed, i.e. wide cracks/gravel result in a
high foaming factor, narrow cracks / fine sand in a low
expansion rate and high strength.
Final Product:
Cured SealStop F does not shrink nor swell with water,
which makes this resin very stable.

Composition
Components:
CEMproof CrackSeal T, Comp. A comprises of polyols
and additives. CEMproof CrackSeal T, Comp. B, is a
modified isocyanate.
System:
The resin mix penetrates the cracks to be sealed. The
major part of the water in there is displaced by the hy-
drophobic resin; the remainder causes the acceleration
of the curing and the formation of a mainly closed cell
foam resin.
Final product:
After more than 10 h, the resin is solid; the final curing
takes several days. The cured resin is elastic and ex-
tendable even in tabular adhesion. It meets the re-
quirements of the minimum extendability of 10 % ac-
cording to ZTV-ING.
CEMproof CrackSeal T is compatible with groundwater.
Application
Generally, the resin mix is injected via a borehole
packer and a borehole into the fissure to be sealed until
resin matter is discharged by boreholes for checking
purposes.
20
- CEMproof® CrackSeal T -
CEMproof CrackSeal T can be injected via the PREDI-
MAX 11 or CEM 11 injection hose which has to be
installed beforehand into the concrete joint.
The resin components are mixed carefully in a volumet-
ric 2.5 : 1 ratio or weight 2 : 1 ratio, poured into a se-
cond container or hopper and injected by the single-
component pump. The pot life in accordance to the
application temperature has to be taken into account.
With strong water inflow, the fast reacting aqua reactive
resin SealStop W, accelerated by CEMproof Add X
have to be pre-injected, subsequently followed by the
CEMproof CrackSeal T injection.

require silicone-free bonding and sealing.
Application
Adhesion surfaces must be dry, sound, free of dust,
release agents and coatings inimical to adhesion. Ad-
hesion is excellent on many substrates without primer.
Do not use primer on glass and glazed surfaces. On
absorbent substrates a primer may optimize sealant
adhesion. Please note that flat bonds of less absorbent
substrates take longer to cure.

Technical Data
Air- and undergound temperatures:
Minimal +4 °C (at least, however, +3 °C over the dew
point), maximal +50 °C
Estimated material consumption:
Normal consumption is between 100 and 200 g/m² for
the first coating and between 50 and 150 g/m² for the
second coating. The material consumption depends on
the absorbency, surface roughness and moisture of the
underground as well as on the application- and ambient
temperature. Therefore, the appliance of a test surface
is recommended to define the object-specific material
consumption.
Viscosity:
CEMproof PORFÜLL is a super low viscosity impregna-
tion with a slightly increasing viscosity at low tempera-
tures.
Attendance time between the coatings:
The attendance time between the coatings depends on
the absorbency of the underground and is normally
between three and six hours. Before applying the se-
cond coating, the impregnation of the first coating
should have penetrated into the underground.
Curing time:
The curing times of the treated surface depend on the
ambient temperature and are indicated below. The
temperature of the ambient air and underground should
not be less than 4 °C.
Overcoating:A PORFÜLL treated surface can be coat-
ed with suitable paintings, coatings or floor covering
adhesives. The coating material can be applied in the
tacky surface. To define the compatibility, samples
have to be applied first.

CEMdicht 3 in 1
A Unique Multi Purpose Waterproofing Product
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Product Characteristics
CEMdicht 3 in 1 is a world novelty of BPA GmbH. 3 in 1
means one powder – 3 different end products as well as
implementations:
1. Powder + water = “stiff“ mineral sealant silt
2. Powder + CEMdicht flex = “flexible“ sealant slurry
3. Powder + CEMdicht flex+
= “flexible + crystalline“
sealant slurry
CEMdicht is a grey dry cement mortar and can be ap-
plied by brushing, trowelling or spraying.
By adding the liquid component CEMdicht flex the miner-
al sealant silt will become so flexible that it can be ap-
plied to highly stressed, crackprone undergrounds (c.f.
Technical leaflet "CEMdicht flex"). The liquid component
CEMdicht flex+
has crystalline characteristics in addition.
CEMdicht holds the General Building Code Test Certifi-
cate (abP). It is constantly controlled as required in the
German Bauregelliste.
Uses
CEMdicht is used to protect buildings and parts thereof
against ground dampness, pressing water and non-
pressing water. It is applied:
- at vertical waterproofing of earth touching constructions
- for exterior waterproofing of walls (even afterwards)
- for waterproofing of concrete slabs and foundations
- for vertical waterproofing of splash water areas at wall
bases
- for waterproofing at the cross-section of walls and
concrete slabs
- for waterproofing against interior water pressure (water
tanks)
- Interior waterproofing against exterior water pressure
flow (even afterwards)
- waterproofing against temporarily pressing water from
the inside during construction work.
CEMdicht is applied on:
- reinforced concrete as per DIN 1045,
- solidly filled masonry brick work as per DIN 1053
- cement plaster as per DIN 18550.
CEMdicht is suitable as waterproofing coating for under-
ground screeds, plasters of the mortar groups PI, PII,
and PIII as well as for tiles and slabs.
Application of 1 Component – not flexible
The underground should be firm, load carrying and free
from separating substances. Concrete undergrounds
have to be free of gravel nests, cracks, and other une-
venness. The concrete neither must not contain additives
nor be treated with products that harm the sealant silt.
Unevenness and cracks have to be equalized with a PIII
cement mortar before waterproofing.
Brickwork with joints has to be plastered with a plas-
ter of PIII mortar group (minimum layer thickness 10
mm).
Onto solidly filled brickwork as per DIN 1053
CEMdicht can be directly applied.
Do not work at temperatures below +5 °C or when
frost or rain is expected. Do not apply onto frozen
underground. If necessary wet the underground be-
fore application.
Mixing: Mix CEMdicht with clean water until obtaining
a lump free paste. Water amount needed: approx.
8.5 l/bag for a brushable consistency. About 7.5 l/bag
for a trowelling consistency. To improve the workabil-
ity a bonding emulsion can be added (approx. 1 l/bag)
to the mixing water. CEMdicht can be applied with
suitable sprayguns.
Apply minimum 2 layers of the mineral sealant silt
(against ground dampness and with non-pressure
water flow) or minimum 3 layers (against pressure
water flow or horizontal waterproofing). Each layer
must have the same material consistency following
the tool with which the material is applied: brush,
trowel or suitable spray gun. Waiting time between
two layers has to be at least so long that the previous
layer will not be damaged when applying the next
one. Keep the minimum thickness on all edges and
corners. Minimum thickness of the dry layer against
ground dampness and with non-pressure water flow
is 2 mm, in all other cases 3 mm. Maximum thickness
of dry layer is 5 mm.
Amount required: Approx. 4 kg/m² against ground
dampness and non-pressure water flow (= about
2 mm layer thickness). Approx. 7 kg/m² against pres-
sure water flow (= about 4 mm layer thickness). The
amounts given refer to the dry mortar.
CEMdicht 3 in 1
30
Working time will shorten with high outdoor temperatues,
just as it will lengthen with low outdoor temperatues.
Prepared mineral sealant silt should be used within two
hours. Fresh material can be rinsed off with clean water.
Aftertreatment: Fresh waterproofing is to be protected for
about three days against too much sun, wind and heat. If
necessary, keep moist. Allow ten days minimum for the
mineral sealant silt to be load carrying and fully function-
al. Damage at the new waterproofing can be repaired
with CEMdicht. Protect sealant silt coated surfaces by
suitable protection coats. The foundation pit is to be filled
in accordance to the standard building regulations.
Application of 2 Component – flexible and
2 Component – flexible + crystallizing addi-
tives
The substrate must be firm, load carrying and free from
separating substances. Concrete has to be free of gravel
nests, cracks, and other unevenness. The concrete nei-
ther must not contain additives nor be treated with prod-
ucts that harm the sealant slurry.
Gravel nests have to be equalized with a cement mortar
before waterproofing. Edges have to be broken, grooves
have to be rounded. Brickwork with joints has to be plas-
tered with a cement-plaster (minimum layer thickness 10
mm). Onto solidly filled brickwork CEMdicht “flex” can be
directly applied. Do not work at temperatures below +5
°C or when frost or rain is expected. Do not apply onto
frozen substrate. Substrate has to be thoroughly wet
before application.
Mixing: Mix thoroughly one 30 kg bag CEMdicht with one
10 litre can liquid component CEMdicht „flex“ (slowly
running drill with rotating mixer). If necessary add a small
amount of water to obtain the working consistency.
Apply minimum 2 void-free layers of the flexible sealant
slurry (against ground dampness and with non-pressure
water flow) or minimum void-free 3 layers (against pres-
sure water flow or horizontal waterproofing). Each layer
must have the same material consistency following the
tool with which the material is applied: brush, trowel or
suitable spray guns. Waiting time between two layers has
to be at least so long that the previous layer will not be
damaged when applying the next one. Keep the mini-
mum and maximum thickness on all edges and corners.
Minimum thickness of the dry layer against ground
dampness and with non-pressure water flow is 2 mm, in
all other cases 2.5 mm. Maximum thickness of dry layer
is 5 mm.
2 component flex and 2 component flex+
Amount required: Approx. 3 kg/m² against ground
dampness and non-pressure water flow. Approx.
4 kg/m² against pressure water flow.
The amounts given refer to the dry mortar.
Prepared flexible sealant slurry should be used within
30 minutes. Fresh material can be rinsed off tools
with clean water.
Aftertreatment: Fresh waterproofing is to be protected
for about three days against too much sun, wind and
heat. If necessary, keep moist. Allow ten days mini-
mum for the flexible sealant slurry to be load carrying
and fully functional. Damage at new waterproofing
can be repaired with CEMdicht “flex“. Protect flexible
sealant slurry coated surfaces by suitable protection
coats. The foundation pit is to be filled in accordance
to the standard building regulations.

stored for approx. 6 months.
Safety Precautions
The powder component is caustic, the liquid compo-
nent is irritant, so direct contact to eyes and skin is to
be avoided. Flush eyes with plenty of flowing water.
May cause serious eye damage. Seek medical advice
if necessary. Do not inhale dust. Wear suitable pro-
tective clothing and gloves. Keep out of reach for
children.

Underground
The substrate must be firm, load carrying and free
from separating substances. Concrete has to be free
of gravel nests, cracks, and other unevenness. The
concrete neither must not contain additives nor be
treated with products that harm the sealant slurry.
Gravel nests have to be equalized with a cement
mortar before waterproofing. Edges have to be bro-
ken, grooves have to be rounded. Brickwork with
joints has to be plastered with a cement-plaster (min-
imum layer thickness 10 mm).
All types of surfaces in fields of construction (cement
at least 3-4 days old) are appropriate. Substrate has
to be thoroughly wet before application.
Pretreatment of underground: sandblasting, water jet
and flame cleaning, grinding, shot-blasting or milling.
Onto solidly filled brickwork CEMdicht ”flex” can be
directly applied and should be used when weather is
bad and underground totally soaked.
Mixing
Mixing the adhesive CEMdicht flex.
Mix thoroughly one 30 kg bag CEMdicht with one 10
litre can liquid component CEMdicht “flex“ (slowly
running drill with rotating mixer until lump free).
If necessary add a small amount of water to obtain
the working consistency.
32
The processing time is about 60 minutes at a tempera-
ture of +20 °C and a humidity of 60 %. Layers more than
1 mm thick should be avoided as cracks may arise be-
cause of the high amount of adhesive agent.
CEMdicht Sealing Tape 2000
The sealing tape 2000 is pressed on joints over surfaces
that are treated with waterproofing materials and with
CEMdicht flex. The surface sealant (at least 2 cm in
width and wider than the sealant tape) is to be applied on
both sides of the bridged joints. The sealing tape is to be
applied on the new surface, evenly placed without creas-
ing. Then the sealant can be applied. The area of the
settlement joint (for the subsequent elastic joint applica-
tion) should be kept free from sealant.
The edges of the sealing tape are to be bonded with an
overlap of at least 5 cm and with the sealant, covering
the complete surface without creasing.
Note
During the hardening phase water needs to be kept
away. Protect newly-laid CEMflex sealing tapes against
sunshine, cold draft, rain, and frost. Allow 7 days mini-
mum for the sealing tapes to be fully water-proof against
water pressure. Negative water can cause the sealing
tape to chip off due to frost. The CEMdicht Sealing Tape
2000 seals joints and must be protected against mechan-
ical damage. Products containing dissolvents and block-
ing vapour cannot be applied onto the sealing tape. A
priming coat without any open pores avoids direct con-
tact with metals such as copper, zinc and aluminum.
The CEMdicht 3 in 1 powder component contains cement
and therefore reacts alkaline due to moisture. So please
note:
 protect skin and eyes.
 irritations: rinse thoroughly with water.
eye contact: rinse thoroughly with water for about
10 minutes and seek medical advice.
Safety Precautions
Transport: Not a hazardous material
Ecology: The powder is hazardous to water and therefore
needs to be removed according to legal regulations. Do
not drop into sewage system, waters or ground.
Disposal: Let both components react and dispose hard
cured material according to local guidelines.
For detailed information please ask for the health data
sheet.

CEMproof® CEMdrain Draining System
High Quality Special-draining System
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Product
Conventional drainage system (sand, gravel, drainage
pipes and filter fabrics) restrict the creativity of archi-
tects and construction engineers in the design and
construction of buildings, (re)development of urban
areas and infrastructures such as roads and high-
speed railways.
Use
CEMdrain is the draining system which has full draining
capacity, even after decades.
The use of natural materials in conventional systems
prevents an accurate calculation of the drainage capac-
ity. This sometimes results in overdimensioning, higher
costs and excessive use of space. Another risk is un-
derdimensioning, causing failure to achieve the re-
quired drainage capacity, eventually leading to dam-
aged buildings, roads or green areas.
CEMdrain eliminates such problems permanently by
offering a system that is both simple and comprehen-
sive, providing architects and construction engineers
with the ability to achieve the proper drainage capacity
and to accurately determine the dimensions of the
drainage pipes and sewer systems needed.
CEMdrain can be used for tunnel draining, basement
draining, foundation draining and excavation draining.

CEMtobent® DS Double Seal
Sealing System
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Product
CEMtobent lining system replaces all conventional wa-
terproofing methods used in civil engineering, such as
bituminous materials, coatings and synthetic foils of all
kinds. The innovative manufacturing technology differen-
tiates CEMtobent Lining System from similar products,
which also use PE and bentonite as waterproofing
agents. CEMtobent DS is a unique bentonite membrane
especially created for structural waterproofing!
CEMtobent DS
CEMtobent DS is a waterproofing system, which consists
of two complementary components:
 the primary liner: a high-quality (GCL)
geocomposite clay liner
 the secondary liner: a 3D composite (PE honeycomb
with a unique cell structure where the swelling sodium
bentonite powder is encapsulated.
CEMtobent is a highly effective waterproofing composite
of high strength geotextile and 5,00 kg of natural activat-
ed sodium bentonite powder per square metre. The high
swelling, low permeable activated natural sodium benton-
ite is encapsulated between a non-woven and a 3-
dimensional PE sheet. A patented mechanical connec-
tion interlocks the geotextiles together forming an ex-
tremely strong composite that maintains the equal cover-
age of bentonite, as well as, protects it from inclement
weather and construction related damage.
CEMtobent has a unique rain-protection layer and has
one open and one completely closed side.
This feature allows the use of CEMtobent also in areas
where fluent groundwater levels are expected.
Once backfilled, CEMtobent hydrates and forms a
monolithic waterproofing membrane. CEMtobent can
be installed in any weather condition to green con-
crete, and most importantly, has proven effective on
both new and remedial waterproofing projects world-
wide. CEMtobent works by forming a low permeability
membrane upon contact with water. When wetted,
unconfined bentonite can swell up to 8 - 12 times its
dry volume.
When confined under pressure the swell is controlled,
forming a dense, impervious waterproofing mem-
brane. The swelling action of CEMtobent can seal
small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement,
concrete shrinkage, or seismic action; problems over
which there is normally no control. CEMtobent forms
a mechanical bond to concrete when the geotextile
are encapsulated into the surface of poured-in-place
concrete.
CEMtobent DS is tested up to 5 bar water pressure!
CEMtobent CS is absolutely radon tight as well as
root-resistant!
Advantages of CEMtobent
 Tough and resistant
Higher puncture and tear resistance compared to
conventional foils and coating.
 Quick and easy to install without complicated
welding equipment and specially trained staff, dou-
ble lining in one step
 High compound shear strength
The reinforcement fibre structure and thermally
bonded cover layer form a tight composite
 Can be installed in every season independently of
temperature and weather condition
 Quality control tests to ensure consistent high
quality
 Self-healing properties by the pressure of the
swelling bentonite. Seals small cracks in the con-
crete by the pressure of the swelling bentonite

No protection layer (protection concrete) has to be on top
of the CEMtobent sealing liner. The construction concrete
should have direct contact with the open side of the
CEMtobent sealing liner.
Application
CEMtobent is designed for below-ground, vertical and
horizontal, structural foundation surfaces. Typical applica-
tions include backfilled concrete walls, earth covered
roofs, structural slabs, tunnels and property line construc-
tion. Property line construction applications include se-
cant and contiguous piling, skin wall, metal sheet piling,
shotcrete and stabilized earth retention walls. Applica-
tions may include structures under continuous or intermit-
tent hydrostatic pressure.
Where contaminated groundwater or saltwater conditions
exist, use CEMtobent CS-Plus with an extra PE-coated
geotextile. This extra PE-coated geotextile is also a test-
ed and approved root-resistant protection layer. In this
particular case (contact with high concentrated saltwater)
you have to pre-hydrate CEMtobent with regular tap wa-
ter.
CEMtobent is resistant to: nitrates, phosphates, chlo-
rides, sulfates, lime and organic solvents.
Installation in general
Install CEMtobent in strict accordance with the manufac-
turer’s installation guidelines. Use accessory products as
recommended. Also use CEMtobent CS-Plus as required
for contaminated conditions.
Install CEMtobent DS with the dark stripe on top of
the geotextile (the open side) towards the concrete to
be waterproofed.

CEMtobent® CS-Plus
Sealing System
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Product
CEMtobent lining system replaces all conventional wa-
terproofing methods used in civil engineering, such as
bituminous materials, coatings and synthetic foils of all
kinds. The innovative manufacturing technology differen-
tiates CEMtobent Lining System from similar products,
which also use PE and bentonite as waterproofing
agents. CEMtobent CS-Plus is a unique bentonite mem-
brane especially created for structural waterproofing!
CEMtobent CS-Plus is radon tight and the black PE-
coated woven is UV-resistant and root-resistant!
CEMtobent CS-Plus (CombiSeal)
CEMtobent CS-Plus is a waterproofing system, which
consists of three complementary components:
 the primary liner: a high-quality (GCL)
geocomposite clay liner
 the secondary liner: a 3D composite (PE honeycomb)
with a unique cell structure where the swelling sodium
bentonite powder is encapsulated.
 The third liner: a strong polyethylene (PE)
coated geotextile (root-resistant / radon tight)
The self-healing properties of the bentonite secure the
integrity of the system in the case that the PE-coating is
damaged during installation. Penetrating water causes
the bentonite to hydrate and thus renders the GCL im-
permeable. The building structure is permanently pro-
tected against penetrating water, even small cracks and
voids in the concrete are sealed. CEMtobent is a highly
effective waterproofing composite of high strength geo-
textile and 5 kg of natural activated sodium bentonite
powder per square metre. The high swelling, low perme-
able activated natural sodium bentonite is encapsulated
between a non-woven and a 3-dimensional PE sheet.
A patented mechanical connection interlocks the
geotextiles together forming an extremely strong
composite that maintains the equal coverage of ben-
tonite as well as protects it from inclement weather
and construction related damage.
CEMtobent has a unique rain-protection layer and
has one open and one completely closed side.
This feature allows the use of CEMtobent also in
areas where fluent groundwater levels are expected.
Once backfilled, CEMtobent hydrates and forms a
monolithic waterproofing membrane. CEMtobent can
be installed in any weather condition to green con-
crete, and most importantly, has proven effective on
both new and remedial waterproofing projects world-
wide. CEMtobent works by forming a low permeability
membrane upon contact with water. When wetted,
unconfined bentonite can swell up to 8 - 12 times its
dry volume.
When confined under pressure the swell is controlled,
forming a dense, impervious waterproofing mem-
brane.
The swelling action of CEMtobent can seal small
concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, con-
crete shrinkage, or seismic action; problems over
which there is normally no control. CEMtobent forms
a mechanical bond to concrete when the geotextile is
encapsulated into the surface of poured-in-place
concrete.
Function of the System
No protection layer (protection concrete) has to be on
top of the CEMtobent sealing liner. The construction
concrete should have direct contact with the open
side of the CEMtobent sealing liner.
Advantages of CEMtobent
 Tough and resistant
Higher puncture and tear resistance compared to
conventional foils and coating.

 Quick and easy to install without complicated welding
equipment and specially trained staff, double lining in
one step
 High compound shear strength
The reinforcement fibre structure and thermally bonded
cover layer form a tight composite
 Can be installed in every season independently of
temperature and weather condition
 Quality control tests to ensure consistent high quality
 Self-healing properties by the pressure of the swelling
bentonite. Seals small cracks in the concrete by the
pressure of the swelling bentonite
Application
CEMtobent is designed for below-ground vertical and
horizontal structural foundation surfaces. Typical applica-
tions include backfilled concrete walls, earth-covered
roofs, structural slabs, tunnels and property line construc-
tion. Property line construction applications include se-
cant and contiguous piling, skin wall, metal sheet piling,
shotcrete and stabilized earth retention walls. Applica-
tions may include structures under continuous or intermit-
tent hydrostatic pressure.
Where contaminated groundwater or saltwater conditions
exist, use only CEMtobent CS-Plus with an extra PE-
coated geotextile. This extra PE-coated geotextile is also
a tested and approved root-resistant protection layer. In
this particular case (saltwater contact) you have to pre-
hydrate CEMtobent with regular tap water. CEMtobent is
resistant to: nitrates, phosphates, chlorides, sulfates, lime
and organic solvents.
Installation in general
Install CEMtobent in strict accordance with the manu-
facturer’s installation guidelines. Use accessory prod-
ucts as recommended. Also use CEMtobent CS-Plus
as required for contaminated conditions.
CEMtobent CS-Plus is open on one side as well (reg-
ular geotextile) and completely closed on the PE-
coated black side.
Special Features
CEMtobent CS-Plus is root-resistant and is also ra-
don-tight even under dry condition!
CEMtobent is tested up to 6 bar water pressure!
CEMtobent is a solution for high grade structural
waterproofing!
CEMtobent is well tested in laboratories and also
proven in practical use! Ask for references!
Methods of Joint Adjacent Panels
 Overlapping (approx. 15 cm) and adding bentonite
in seam area – additionally fixed to the concrete
by nails.
 Overlapping (approx. 15 cm) and gluing with
CEMstar adhesive.
 Overlapping (approx. 15 cm) and using
the self-adhesive tape CEMtobent SealTape.
Storage
Keep CEMtobent and all accessory products dry, with
adequate polyethylene or canvas cover for sides and
top. Block up or pallet material to prevent contact with
ground surface water.
CEMtobent bentonite geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) is
a unique, patented technology made in Germany.

  • 6. 4 PREDIMAX® Injection Hose Injection Hose for Economic Sealing of Construction Joints in Concrete Structures _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ PREDIMAX 11 and PREDIMAX 19 Product PREDIMAX is a double-jacketed PVC based hose with offset openings and/or slots for outlet of compressed injection material to seal joints in subterranean con- structions. The openings in the interior hose are offset from the openings in the outer hose, that is to say, ce- ment paste is prevented from entering. For installation, you have to fix the injection hose to the first concrete section by means of some suitable fas- tening and imbed it with the next concrete-work phase. Use (in general) The injection hose is used for sealing of construction joints which are permanently or occasionally exposed to loads due to subterranean, down-the-slope or sur- face water. Construction joints which are required for structural engineering reasons can be designed non-positive and watertight. Features for Installation  Sufficient cross section of the duct (reducing inner friction of injection material thus allowing economical compression lengths) and permeability of the com- pression duct and outlet openings after concreting.  Cement paste is prevented from entering during concrete work because of the hose-in-hose system  Robust during installation under building-site condi- tions, fastening system included  Easy handling and time-saving fitting  No unwanted twisting when installing from the reel, because hose is circular  Outlet of injection material from the concreted hose system even under slight pressure, that is to say, outlet of material is assured to all sides  Smooth surface to avoid unwanted bonding between injection hose and concrete. • 8. 6 Installation of the BPA Injection Hose System _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The PREDIMAX/CEM 11 injection hose is easy to install when you consider the following items of this installation manual: Put the hose in the middle of the cold joint. The connec- tion, ventilating hose / PREDIMAX/CEM 11 has to be placed completely inside the concrete structure. The hose has to be well set on the cold joint and has to be fastened with hose clamps at approx. 15 cm dis- tance (depending on surface of the concrete of the construction joint). Overlapping: The overlapping should at least be 10 cm. The injection ends shall be placed towards outside the formwork in order to be easily found again. Two differ- ent possibilities are shown: Installation of the injection hose system by using shut- ter connector including rubber plate and a spider (for easy installation on the reinforcement) Installing the ventilation hoses inside an end box: Important: Ventilation hoses have to be fixed in order to avoid a replacement during the concrete work.
  • 9. 7 Fitting rail QUELLMAX® Plus Bentonite Waterstop Tape with Patented Rain Protection __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP) Product QUELLMAX Plus is a technically matured and moreo- ver very price worthy swellable bentonite joint-sealing tape with crystallisation additives. QUELLMAX is used as a waterstop in concrete construction joints. QUELLMAX is tested up to 7 bar water pressure. QUELLMAX Plus The swellable bentonite waterstop tape consists of bentonite embedded in a matrix of highly molecular polyisobutylene caoutchouc and special fillers and crystalline admixtures (patented composition). Contact with rain or general site water will not activate the product, but when QUELLMAX Plus is covered by concrete, the alkaline environment breaks down the coating and the QUELLMAX Plus will then be activated by leak water. Features QUELLMAX Plus is the only swellable bentonite joint- sealing tape that can be used without any compromise, because  QUELLMAX Plus can be installed independently of any weather condition, that means no unwanted swelling during installation (rain-protection)  Patented coating delays swelling from contact with water of 72 hours. Application QUELLMAX Plus should be placed in in-situ concrete constructions because the swellable bentonite water- stop tape will be completely covered on all sides by concrete (min. 8 cm concrete cover are required) to make sure that the swelling sealing pressure can be built up. Advantages  QUELLMAX Plus seals in two phases: -First phase: sealing by immediate swelling -Second phase: sealing by crystallisation  Great swelling capacity (> 300 %)  Easy Handling  No time-consuming setting on edges  Self injecting effect, that is to say penetration into any cracks and cavities because of a powerful swelling. Second sealing process by concrete crystallisation  Swelling and shrinkage are infinitely reversible  Dimensionally extremely stable, not sticky, even at high temperatures in summer  High mineral portion, hence no fatigue of materials: Sodium-bentonite reacts even decades after having been incorporated  No negative influence on the successful building-site routine Technical Data QUELLMAX Plus Shape: Swellable profile rectangular and flexible Colour: black / dark grey Dimensions: 18 x 24 mm 16 x 21 mm Coating: patented rain protection Weight: 730 g/m or 570 g/m Toxicity: Non-toxic Fitting Form of Delivery / Storage Roll of 5 m, box of 20 m, pallet of 720 m Shelf life: 5 years, when stored protected constantly against frost and weather conditions QUELLMAX bentonite waterstop is a unique, patented technology made in Germany. • 10. 8 QUELLMAX® Blackstop Standard Bentonite Waterstop Tape __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP) Product QUELLMAX Blackstop is a technically matured and moreover very well-priced swellable bentonite joint- sealing tape with crystallisation additives (patented). QUELLMAX is used as a waterstop in concrete con- struction joints. QUELLMAX is tested and approved up to 7 bar water pressure. QUELLMAX is also tested for use in changing water tables. QUELLMAX The swellable bentonite waterstop tape consists of bentonite embedded in a matrix of highly molecular polyisobutylene caoutchouc and special fillers and crystalline admixtures (patented composition). Supplied as a robust strip, QUELLMAX is simply fas- tened onto an existing joint face before the next con- crete pour. Any subsequent water leakage through the joint activates the QUELLMAX, which takes up leaking water and swells. This swelling action expands the product into the water flow paths (active self-injecting process) and effectively seals against water leakage through the cold joint. Features Compared with any other traditional joint sealants (PVC joint-sealing tape, joint-sealing sheets, etc.), QUELLMAX Blackstop is quite economical and reliable, because  sources of errors are reduced to minimum  the best ratio of price and performance is assured Application QUELLMAX shall be placed only in in-situ concrete constructions because the swellable bentonite water- stop tape shall be completely covered on all sides by concrete (min. 8 cm concrete cover are required) to make sure that the swelling sealing pressure can be built up. Advantages  QUELLMAX seals in two phases: -First phase: sealing by immediate swelling -Second phase: sealing by crystallisation  Great swelling capacity (> 300 %)  Easy handling  No time-consuming setting on edges  Self injecting effect, that is to say penetration into any cracks and cavities.  Swelling and shrinkage are infinitely reversible  Dimensionally extremely stable, not sticky, not even at high temperatures in summer-time  High mineral portion, hence no fatigue of materials: Sodium-bentonite reacts even after decades of hav- ing been incorporated  No negative influence on the successful building-site routine Technical Data QUELLMAX Blackstop Shape: Swellable profile rectangular and flexible Colour: black / dark grey Dimensions: 18 x 24 mm 16 x 21 mm 10 x 20 mm Coating: talcum treated Weight: 730 g/m or 570 g/m Toxicity: Non-toxic Fitting Form of Delivery / Storage Roll of 5 m, box of 20 m, pallet of 720 m Shelf life: 5 years, when stored protected constantly against frost and weather conditions. • 12. 10 CEMswell – Hydrophilic Swelling Rubber _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CEMswell – Hydrophilic Rubber Shield-driven tunnels (TBM) are currently being used for construction work at even greater depths and higher water-pressure environments. The resultant need for improved water sealing characteristics is best met by water-expanding sealant materials, which swell on contact with water. Introduction Shield-driven tunnels are common features of such construction works as subways, water supply and sew- er systems in cities, tunnels, cable lying, etc. Recent trends in shield-driven tunnels have been towards new applications, increase and decrease in section size, and also construction at greater depths or under the seabed where measures against high-pressure water are of vital importance. CEMswell is a hydrophilic high quality product for sealing all joints in prefabricated concrete constructions. New Type of Rubber Seal CEMswell is a new expanding rubber sealing material that is intended mainly for sealing of joints in tunnels and shafts. It has been developed for the successfully use in tunnels in pressure conditions up to 5 bar water pressure. Expansion up to 400 % CEMswell is an extruded rubber-based compound made from butyl rubber, hydrophilic resin, polyethylene, silicon and special admixtures. On contact with water it is capable of swelling up to 4 times its own volume, and under conditions of confinement will mould itself to exert pressure evenly on the surrounding surfaces, even when these are rough and the gaps to be filled are of uneven size. This feature assures a good water- proof seal without the need for any sort of high- compression force. Shape and Size CEMswell is available in numerous standard shapes and sizes, and can also be extruded in non-standard shapes to meet client’s special requirements or in com- bination with ordinary non-expanding rubber. Three main grades are produced and in stock: 18x7mm: 6 rolls à 12 m (72m / box) 23x15mm: 5 rolls à 6 m (30m / box)  23 mm: 4 rolls à 5 m (20m / box) Technical Data Colour: Grey (standard) Shore A: 38 Elongation at break 490 / 770 % Tensile strength 1.1 / 2.1 MPa Specific weight: 1.25 g/cm³ = 1.25 Volume of swelling: approx. 400 % Working tempera- ture: -30 °C to +70 °C Shelf life: 3 years when stored protect- ed constantly against frost and weather conditions. • 14. 12 CEMflex VB - Steel Plate Waterstop __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With General Building Code Test Certificate (abP) CEMflex VB - Steel Plate Waterstop The CEMflex VB elements are provided with a special coating on both sides. The connection of the special coating to the concrete prevents any water-flow through the concrete construc- tion joint. Besides the extremely good connection of the special coated steel plate to the surrounding concrete there are some other chemical reactions such as light swelling, crystallization, self-healing of concrete cracks and a natural sintering / crystallization (natural formation of limestone) of concrete cracks. Only 3 cm of concrete cover on both sides are neces- sary to seal the cold joint up to 5 bar (50 m water- pressure) The elements are 2,000 mm long, 150 mm high and about 1.25 mm thick. The special coating is not sticky and therefore no protection foil is necessary, which has to be removed before concrete work starts. Areas of Application CEMflex VB CEMflex VB can be used in all construction joints, horizontally or vertically, up to a maximum water- pressure of 80 meter (8 bar). Areas of application:  Horizontal + vertical sealing of any concrete con- struction joints!  Waterproof cold joints in foundation-, basement-, civil engineering work as well as in tunnel construc- tions, underground constructions and special- purpose solutions. CEMflex VB Product Characteristics Galvanized steel metal plate (b = 0.75 mm / l = 2,000 mm / h = 150 mm) provided on both sides with a 0,5 mm thick special coating which sticks to the concrete chemically and seals permanently the joint which has to be sealed. CEMflex VB is an active steel plate waterstop! The sealing function is based on the active crystalliza- tion process as well as the supported natural sintering process of concrete. Characteristics CEMflex VB The extreme good connection behaviour to the con- crete is responsible for the very good waterproofing property. CEMflex VB supports the natural sintering / crystalliza- tion of the cold joint as well as the cracks. Installation of CEMflex VB CEMflex VB with coating on both sides has to be in- stalled directly on top of the reinforcement. CEMflex VB has to be fixed by using the special omega steel plate holder. The reaction mix thus obtained maintains its state for at least 8 hours without significant viscosity increase. After mixing with CEMproof Add X, a skin may be formed on the surface of the liquid by reaction with the humidity contained in the air; but this does not affect the pumping operation. SealStop F / CEMproof Add X products are injected as a single component via packers into the water-bearing zones using manual or motor-driven pumps. When in contact with water, the reaction mix foams up strongly and hardens. If the zone to be sealed contains insuffi- cient water, a full hardening of the SealStop F mass can be achieved by preliminary or subsequent water injection. In contrast to the two-component systems, SealStop F will not harden in the injection pipe for hours since con- tact with the water contained in the ground is necessary for hardening. Preferably, SealStop F is used for stopping the water flow from working joint with preinstalled grouting hoses such as PREDIMAX injection hose systems or CEM 11 injection hose system. Immediately after stopping the water flow by pumping SealStop F (single-component foaming PU-resin), CEMproof CrackSeal (two- component PU-resin) has to be injected to achieve a permanent elastic seal. Immediately after ending the injection work flush the pump with CEMproof CleanEx in order to prevent clog- ging. For standstill periods of more than one day, fill the pump with CEMproof CleanEx afterwards. For the consolidation of soil SealStop F is used without CEMproof Add X and has to be injected via injection hoses (PREDIMAX/CEM 11) or other injection pipes into natural moist or wet sand. The maximum radius of injection is approx. 30 cm; with a bigger radius the core is left uncured. The injection pressure should be no greater than the overburden pressure in order to avoid fracturing of the ground. Recommendation: We recommend storing the products prior to processing for at least 12 h at a minimum temperature of 15 °C in order to achieve the recommended processing temper- ature of between 15 °C to 30 °C. When the material is warmed up, local overheating, e.g. at the container wall, must be avoided by any means.
  • 20. 18 Composition and Properties Components SealStop F consists of modified isocyanates with sof- teners and additives. CEMproof Add X is a catalyst blend. System: SealStop F cures by reaction with ambient water yield- ing a polyurethane / polyurea foam. The expansion rate of the foam depends in the first place on the backpres- sure affected by the propagation of the resin into the structure to be sealed, i.e. wide cracks/gravel result in a high foaming factor, narrow cracks / fine sand in a low expansion rate and high strength. Final Product: Cured SealStop F does not shrink nor swell with water, which makes this resin very stable. Form of Delivery / Storage Packing: SealStop F CEMproof Add X 20 kg in a can 4.5 kg in a can Other packing units on request. Storage, shelf life: At least six months from date of delivery and twelve months from date of production when stored in a dry place between 10 and 30 °C. Disposal Disposal according to local regulations. Liquid product can be disposed of in an incineration plant (EU waste code 08 05 01). • 31. 29 CEMdicht 3 in 1 A Unique Multi Purpose Waterproofing Product _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Product Characteristics CEMdicht 3 in 1 is a world novelty of BPA GmbH. 3 in 1 means one powder – 3 different end products as well as implementations: 1. Powder + water = “stiff“ mineral sealant silt 2. Powder + CEMdicht flex = “flexible“ sealant slurry 3. Powder + CEMdicht flex+ = “flexible + crystalline“ sealant slurry CEMdicht is a grey dry cement mortar and can be ap- plied by brushing, trowelling or spraying. By adding the liquid component CEMdicht flex the miner- al sealant silt will become so flexible that it can be ap- plied to highly stressed, crackprone undergrounds (c.f. Technical leaflet "CEMdicht flex"). The liquid component CEMdicht flex+ has crystalline characteristics in addition. CEMdicht holds the General Building Code Test Certifi- cate (abP). It is constantly controlled as required in the German Bauregelliste. Uses CEMdicht is used to protect buildings and parts thereof against ground dampness, pressing water and non- pressing water. It is applied: - at vertical waterproofing of earth touching constructions - for exterior waterproofing of walls (even afterwards) - for waterproofing of concrete slabs and foundations - for vertical waterproofing of splash water areas at wall bases - for waterproofing at the cross-section of walls and concrete slabs - for waterproofing against interior water pressure (water tanks) - Interior waterproofing against exterior water pressure flow (even afterwards) - waterproofing against temporarily pressing water from the inside during construction work. CEMdicht is applied on: - reinforced concrete as per DIN 1045, - solidly filled masonry brick work as per DIN 1053 - cement plaster as per DIN 18550. CEMdicht is suitable as waterproofing coating for under- ground screeds, plasters of the mortar groups PI, PII, and PIII as well as for tiles and slabs. Application of 1 Component – not flexible The underground should be firm, load carrying and free from separating substances. Concrete undergrounds have to be free of gravel nests, cracks, and other une- venness. The concrete neither must not contain additives nor be treated with products that harm the sealant silt. Unevenness and cracks have to be equalized with a PIII cement mortar before waterproofing. Brickwork with joints has to be plastered with a plas- ter of PIII mortar group (minimum layer thickness 10 mm). Onto solidly filled brickwork as per DIN 1053 CEMdicht can be directly applied. Do not work at temperatures below +5 °C or when frost or rain is expected. Do not apply onto frozen underground. If necessary wet the underground be- fore application. Mixing: Mix CEMdicht with clean water until obtaining a lump free paste. Water amount needed: approx. 8.5 l/bag for a brushable consistency. About 7.5 l/bag for a trowelling consistency. To improve the workabil- ity a bonding emulsion can be added (approx. 1 l/bag) to the mixing water. CEMdicht can be applied with suitable sprayguns. Apply minimum 2 layers of the mineral sealant silt (against ground dampness and with non-pressure water flow) or minimum 3 layers (against pressure water flow or horizontal waterproofing). Each layer must have the same material consistency following the tool with which the material is applied: brush, trowel or suitable spray gun. Waiting time between two layers has to be at least so long that the previous layer will not be damaged when applying the next one. Keep the minimum thickness on all edges and corners. Minimum thickness of the dry layer against ground dampness and with non-pressure water flow is 2 mm, in all other cases 3 mm. Maximum thickness of dry layer is 5 mm. Amount required: Approx. 4 kg/m² against ground dampness and non-pressure water flow (= about 2 mm layer thickness). Approx. 7 kg/m² against pres- sure water flow (= about 4 mm layer thickness). The amounts given refer to the dry mortar. CEMdicht 3 in 1

Concrete has to be free of gravel nests, cracks, and other unevenness. The concrete neither must not contain additives nor be treated with products that harm the sealant slurry. Gravel nests have to be equalized with a cement mortar before waterproofing. Edges have to be bro- ken, grooves have to be rounded. Brickwork with joints has to be plastered with a cement-plaster (min- imum layer thickness 10 mm). All types of surfaces in fields of construction (cement at least 3-4 days old) are appropriate. Substrate has to be thoroughly wet before application. Pretreatment of underground: sandblasting, water jet and flame cleaning, grinding, shot-blasting or milling. Onto solidly filled brickwork CEMdicht ”flex” can be directly applied and should be used when weather is bad and underground totally soaked. Mixing Mixing the adhesive CEMdicht flex. Mix thoroughly one 30 kg bag CEMdicht with one 10 litre can liquid component CEMdicht “flex“ (slowly running drill with rotating mixer until lump free). If necessary add a small amount of water to obtain the working consistency.
  • 34. 32 The processing time is about 60 minutes at a tempera- ture of +20 °C and a humidity of 60 %. Layers more than 1 mm thick should be avoided as cracks may arise be- cause of the high amount of adhesive agent. CEMdicht Sealing Tape 2000 The sealing tape 2000 is pressed on joints over surfaces that are treated with waterproofing materials and with CEMdicht flex. The surface sealant (at least 2 cm in width and wider than the sealant tape) is to be applied on both sides of the bridged joints. The sealing tape is to be applied on the new surface, evenly placed without creas- ing. Then the sealant can be applied. The area of the settlement joint (for the subsequent elastic joint applica- tion) should be kept free from sealant. The edges of the sealing tape are to be bonded with an overlap of at least 5 cm and with the sealant, covering the complete surface without creasing. Note During the hardening phase water needs to be kept away. Protect newly-laid CEMflex sealing tapes against sunshine, cold draft, rain, and frost. Allow 7 days mini- mum for the sealing tapes to be fully water-proof against water pressure. Negative water can cause the sealing tape to chip off due to frost. The CEMdicht Sealing Tape 2000 seals joints and must be protected against mechan- ical damage. Products containing dissolvents and block- ing vapour cannot be applied onto the sealing tape. A priming coat without any open pores avoids direct con- tact with metals such as copper, zinc and aluminum. The CEMdicht 3 in 1 powder component contains cement and therefore reacts alkaline due to moisture. So please note: protect skin and eyes. irritations: rinse thoroughly with water. eye contact: rinse thoroughly with water for about 10 minutes and seek medical advice. Safety Precautions Transport: Not a hazardous material Ecology: The powder is hazardous to water and therefore needs to be removed according to legal regulations. Do not drop into sewage system, waters or ground. Disposal: Let both components react and dispose hard cured material according to local guidelines. For detailed information please ask for the health data sheet. CEMdicht 3 in 1 and sealing tape 2000 The versatile mineral sealing system. Areas and joints are sealed mineral-proof.
  • 35. 33 CEMproof® CEMdrain Draining System High Quality Special-draining System __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Product Conventional drainage system (sand, gravel, drainage pipes and filter fabrics) restrict the creativity of archi- tects and construction engineers in the design and construction of buildings, (re)development of urban areas and infrastructures such as roads and high- speed railways. Use CEMdrain is the draining system which has full draining capacity, even after decades. The use of natural materials in conventional systems prevents an accurate calculation of the drainage capac- ity. This sometimes results in overdimensioning, higher costs and excessive use of space. Another risk is un- derdimensioning, causing failure to achieve the re- quired drainage capacity, eventually leading to dam- aged buildings, roads or green areas. CEMdrain eliminates such problems permanently by offering a system that is both simple and comprehen- sive, providing architects and construction engineers with the ability to achieve the proper drainage capacity and to accurately determine the dimensions of the drainage pipes and sewer systems needed. CEMdrain can be used for tunnel draining, basement draining, foundation draining and excavation draining. • 36. 34 CEMtobent® DS Double Seal Sealing System _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Product CEMtobent lining system replaces all conventional wa- terproofing methods used in civil engineering, such as bituminous materials, coatings and synthetic foils of all kinds. The innovative manufacturing technology differen- tiates CEMtobent Lining System from similar products, which also use PE and bentonite as waterproofing agents. CEMtobent DS is a unique bentonite membrane especially created for structural waterproofing! CEMtobent DS CEMtobent DS is a waterproofing system, which consists of two complementary components:  the primary liner: a high-quality (GCL) geocomposite clay liner  the secondary liner: a 3D composite (PE honeycomb with a unique cell structure where the swelling sodium bentonite powder is encapsulated. CEMtobent is a highly effective waterproofing composite of high strength geotextile and 5,00 kg of natural activat- ed sodium bentonite powder per square metre. The high swelling, low permeable activated natural sodium benton- ite is encapsulated between a non-woven and a 3- dimensional PE sheet. A patented mechanical connec- tion interlocks the geotextiles together forming an ex- tremely strong composite that maintains the equal cover- age of bentonite, as well as, protects it from inclement weather and construction related damage. CEMtobent has a unique rain-protection layer and has one open and one completely closed side. This feature allows the use of CEMtobent also in areas where fluent groundwater levels are expected. Once backfilled, CEMtobent hydrates and forms a monolithic waterproofing membrane. CEMtobent can be installed in any weather condition to green con- crete, and most importantly, has proven effective on both new and remedial waterproofing projects world- wide. CEMtobent works by forming a low permeability membrane upon contact with water. When wetted, unconfined bentonite can swell up to 8 - 12 times its dry volume. When confined under pressure the swell is controlled, forming a dense, impervious waterproofing mem- brane. The swelling action of CEMtobent can seal small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, concrete shrinkage, or seismic action; problems over which there is normally no control. CEMtobent forms a mechanical bond to concrete when the geotextile are encapsulated into the surface of poured-in-place concrete. CEMtobent DS is tested up to 5 bar water pressure! CEMtobent CS is absolutely radon tight as well as root-resistant!
