This document summarizes a student project that aims to develop fabric from Calotropis fibres blended with organic cotton. It identifies problems with wool production such as environmental pollution, animal welfare issues, and high costs. The project proposes extracting fibers from the Calotropis plant stem using a retting method, blending the fibers with organic cotton in a 1:1 ratio, forming them into a web, spinning yarn via open-end spinning, and making fabric. Literature on Calotropis fiber extraction techniques and properties, as well as environmental impacts of wool and qualities of cotton, support this approach. The methodology section outlines the fiber extraction, blending, web formation, yarn production, and fabric making steps.
