2. Heart disease is the most
common cause of death in most
countries worldwide,
particularly in developing
countries. It continues to be the
number one killer of Malaysians.
4. If the pumping action of the heart
becomes inefficient, vital organs like
the brain and kidneys suffer. And if
the heart stops working altogether,

12. Heart Attack
A heart attack occurs
if the flow of oxygen-
rich blood to a section
of heart muscle
suddenly becomes
blocked. If blood flow
isn't restored quickly,
the section of heart
muscle begins to die.
14. SMOKING
Smoking is a major risk
factor. Carbon monoxide
(from the smoke) and
nicotine both put a strain on
the heart by making it work
faster. They also increase your
risk of blood clots.
15. THOMROBOSIS
A thrombosis is a blood
clot within an artery. If a
thrombosis occurs in a
coronary artery, it will
cause the artery to narrow,
preventing the blood supply
from reaching the heart
muscle, which increases
your chance of having a
heart attack.
16. DIABETES
Diabetes can lead to heart disease
because it may cause the lining of
blood vessels to become thicker, which
can restrict blood flow.
18. CHEST PAIN
Most heart attacks
involve discomfort in
the center or left side
of the chest that often
lasts for more than a
few minutes or goes
away and comes back.
19. HEART PALPITATIONS
Palpitations, an unusual
awareness of the heartbeat, is
an extremely common
symptom. Most people
who complain of
palpitations describe them
either as "skips" in the
heartbeat or as periods of
rapid and/or irregular
heartbeats.
20. LIGHTHEADEDNESS OR DIZZINESS
Anybody experiencing
episodes of lightheadedness or
dizziness ought to have a
thorough and complete
examination by a physician.
And since disorders of so
many organ systems can
cause these symptoms, a
good general internist or
family doctor may be the best
place to start.

pressure, reduce the level of
cholesterol in your blood
or help your body get rid
of excess fluids that make
it difficult for your heart
to pump blood.
27. QUIT SMOKING
If you find it hard to
quit smoking on your
own, consider joining
a support group. Many
hospitals, workplaces,
and community groups
offer classes to help
people quit smoking.
28. FOLLOW HEALTHY DIET
A healthy diet
includes a variety of
vegetables and fruits.
These foods can be
fresh, canned, frozen, or

plate with vegetables
and fruits.
