2. We define “bath” as the place that has
water in it or the body treatment by water.
In Rome the use of baths was frequent.
Public baths were called “balnea” while
“thermae” were the large buildings, usually
donations of the emperors where someone
could take a bath, exercise and also have a
good time.
In Patras two bath buildings have been
found in Aiolou 8 and Charalambi str. as
also in Vas. Roufou str.

Although there is
information that the city of
Patras worshiped several
deities their temples have
not been identified yet.
An oracle connected with
the worship of goddess
Demetra is her fountain
near the ancient port
(today Saint Andreas’ Holy
Water).
