“Patients and their visitors are
developing new illnesses from hospital
stays as pathogens can linger for as
long as 30 days,” says Rick O’Shea,

What is challenging LTC facilities on
the sanitation and safety front?
We all understand that in high-traffic
areas germs spread fast and furious.
Harmful organisms form cell layers, and
attach to any and all surfaces where
they are left unhindered to grow and
contaminate. The cells divide, and the
layers intertwine to form a dense
protective layer called Biofilm, which
shields and prevents most sanitizers
from infiltrating and killing the harmful
organism.
These areas may be “cleaned” by
janitorial crews but they simply cannot
access the many surface areas where
germs really linger and grow.
How can facilities cost effectively
combat these threats?
Our latest generation sprayer produces
small electrically charged droplets which
seek out and actually “wrap around”
germ infested areas, penetrating deep
into the designated target, killing the
harshest germs in the hardest to reach
areas for complete long-lasting
protection. Our engineers have evolved
the science of electrostatics to the point
where our system is providing a more
comprehensive coverage of surface
areas, that were previously untouched
by traditional housekeeping methods,
eliminating the risk of cross
contamination, and using far less
chemicals.
This process requires less time, product
and labor, thus facilities can save
valuable resources and assets while
protecting staff and guests from deadly
and sometimes antibiotic resistant
germs.
We have also developed the revolution-
ary TriOx system for creating the most
powerful green chemistry available
today for sanitizing and disinfecting. It
utilizes Advanced Oxidation Processing
(AOP) and pure ozone, and is a patent
pending, self-contained unit that
combines ozone and chlorine species
and generates a powerful yet safe and
non-toxic disinfectant right onsite. It
even destroys Staph, MRSA, Norovirus
and C.diff.
The system connects to the facility’s
existing plumbing, eliminating the need
to purchase, store, manage and discard
other more toxic disinfectants. This can
save facilities a lot of money in
manpower, warehousing and admin-
istrative costs.
How does it impact the facility’s
long-term success?
The Center for Disease Control (CDC)
reports that healthcare facilities,
including nursing homes and hospitals,
are the most commonly reported places
for Norovirus outbreaks in the US and
other industrialized countries. Over half
of all Norovirus outbreaks reported in
the US occur in LTC facilities.
