The document summarizes a gender responsive budgeting (GRB) project in Ukraine funded by Sweden from 2014-2020. The project aims to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of budget expenditures by considering the needs of women and men. It began by piloting GRB in some ministries and regions before expanding implementation nationwide. The project provides training and support to local governments to conduct gender analyses of budgets and programs and make recommendations. As a result of these efforts, over 2000 officials are now engaged in GRB, and regulatory acts and budget programs have been amended to better incorporate a gender perspective. The ultimate goals of the project are to institutionalize GRB in Ukraine's budget processes at both national and local levels.

8. Results of implementation of GRB in Ukraine
 Implementation of GRB is included in the tasks of the Strategy for the reform of the public finance management
system for 2017-2020;
 The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has developed Methodological Recommendations on the Application of
Gender Responsive Budgeting for the Key Spending Units of the State Budget;
 Conducting gender budget analysis of 100 programs funded from the state or local budgets in the fields of
education and science, health care, social protection and social security, housing and communal services, youth
policy, physical culture and sports and culture and art;
 Based on the results of the analysis of the programs and recommendations of the Working groups on GRB in 24
oblasts and in Kyiv, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine,
the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, amended 25 regulatory
acts, in order to take into account gender aspects;
 More than 2000 civil servants are working on a gender responsive approach in the budget process at the state and
local levels;
 In the preparation and approving 60 passports of budget programs financed from local budgets, a gender
perspective is included in 2018;
 Operates GRB School of trainers for civil servants;
 From the beginning of 2018, the GRB Project expanded its scope of activities to such administrative-territorial
levels as cities of oblast significance, rayon's and hromadas.

9. Final results of the Project
