6. FROM BRIC TO BRICS
First BRICS known as BRIC before 2010 . South
Africa has been formally asked to join the BRIC
group of major emerging markets . Officially
admitted as a BRIC nation on December 24, 2010 .
Then BRIC known as BRICS . South Africa stands at a
unique position to influence Africa economic
growth and investment .

8. BRICS SUMMIT 2016 IN INDIA
India will host the 8th BRICS summit
during its chairmanship which is
schedule to take place on 15-16 October
2016 in Goa. The theme of India’s BRICS
chairmanship is building responsive,
inclusive and collective solutions.

9. India has adopted a five approach for the summit which is called
‘ IIIIC ’ or ‘ I4C ‘.
› Institution building to further depend, sustain
and institutionalize BRICS cooperation.
›Implementationof the decisions from previous
summits.
› Integrating the existing cooperation mechanisms.
›Innovation i.e. new cooperation mechanism.
› continuity i.e. continuation of mutually agreed exiting
BRICS cooperation mechanisms.

10. THE AGENDA OF 8th BRICS SUMMIT
›The further strengthening of new Development Bank is
a top priority of the 8th BRICS summit.
› Terrorism will also be a main agenda of this BRICS
summit, because it has become a major global concern.
And also due to the recent happenings this might be the
hot topic in the summit.
› Finally, discussions on healthcare, sustainable growth ,
climate change and a shift to cleaner , greener energy
have always featured at this summits.

grouping in a way that has far exceeded most
expectation .
