Norway has made good progress establishing frameworks and objectives for biodiversity management and environmental protection. However, many ecosystems and farmland bird populations are not improving, nutrient surpluses from agriculture remain high, and land use change continues to put pressure on ecosystems. Additional protections are especially needed in southern Norway, where development pressures from activities like holiday homes are also most significant.
