11. CBT to encourage alternate income through
Other means of services
Traditional income alone is not enough to ensure basic needs of
the people but one can not afford to let the agriculture work
disappear, a subsidiary income opportunities need to explore.
Need to build “linkages” with sectors in agriculture, fishing,
food processing, handicrafts and other services. Such
linkages provides sustainable market opportunities for local
suppliers and strengthen local production while offering
tourists an authentic cultural exposure.

12. Key Learning
Through Partnership with NGO in support from govern-
ment is crucial of success.
It is very important to empower community before start of
CBT to ensure community are capable enough to protect
themselves from any potential harm.
Sustainability of CBT depends on empowering community
led process identify what good culture can be promoted.
Planting trees, care about environment, respecting local
culture and promoting them would be promoting
sustainable CBT with in the community.

13. Project Overview.
• 830 visitors reached up to December 2016.(Two days one night)
• 200 students from Denmark and Australia visited .( 3 days 2 nights)
• UK, Canada, Swisszaland, Australia and USA are top 5 countries
reached.
• 4 CBT staffs( Girls) from 4 communities are working for House
Keeping, Reception, cleaning, communication to villages and serving
dinner at CBT lodge etc.( Breakfast and Lunch is at villages)
• 2 care taker from community.

14. Success.
• Water purification plant through Magway CM.
• Deep tube well at Kan Gyi Taw village through Magway CM .
• Primary school through former Hotel & Tourism minister and was
funded by MTF.
• Officials and local authorities’ cooperation.
• Income from food, cultural performance, bicycle guide, souvenir and
fruit selling.
• Donation from visitors send from their home.
• Mindset of community started to change to focus on education.
