5. Jericho is considered the oldest known inhabited
city in the world.
Jericho was strong and powerful, with walls all around it.
impenetrable,
With its walls, Jericho
unconquerable,
was humanly…………
Mission impossible!
But for Joshua and the Israelites Jericho must
be destroyed.
7. No other way to Canaan, the Promised Land.
GOD’S
PROMISE
Canaan
JERICHO
WALLS
PLAN
“Land that flowed with
milk and honey.”
Israel could not retreat. They had no alternative
PROVISION
except to go forward in victory or suffer death;
dying at the hands of the foes or
of hunger and thirst.
8. God’s strategy for battle is often strange,
defying all conventional wisdom.
I Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the
world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak
things of the world to confound the things which are might.
2 Corinthians 4:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong
holds.
In the war of our souls, where God and Satan battled for our
destiny, He did not send millions of angels to march against the
demons of darkness but . . . He sent His ONLY Son to a cross on
Calvary. Jesus died and bought victory for us with love.
13. The Worship of Faith (Joshua 5: 13-15)
The Captain of the Lord’s army replied to Joshua’s query, “Are
you for us or against us?” “Neither, I come to take over.”
He worshipped God.
Take it by heart the reply of Joshua:
True faith will worship God even though there is a wall standing
between you and God’s purpose for your life.
True faith worships because it understands that no problem is
too big or too difficult for God to take care of.
Faith is not blind to the problem, it sees the problem and God’s
presence.
14. Jericho Strategy - God’s War
Plan
For six days the army would circle the city
while the priests blew their ram’s horns.
The priests with trumpets went first, then
the priests which carried the Ark of the
Covenant, then the Army.
The only sound would be the sound of the
horns, no one could speak.
On the seventh day, they would circle the
city seven times in the same manner.
Then when Joshua gave the signal, they
would shout with great shout.

17. 5. By Faith in God’s Word
God already said to Joshua, “I have
given you the city.” Faith is just
agreeing with the word of God.
There must be times of exuberant faith.
There was no wavering or hesitation in
that shout.
There are no walls of sin strong
enough to resist faith’s shout, when
God says our shouting time has come.
18. God is not moved by the walls you face, but He is moved by the
faith that you put in Him when you face those walls. It’s our
faith that touches God’s heart.
All through life we will face obstacles of some kind standing in
our way of progress. These obstacles often stand between us
and God’s best for our lives.
We cannot ignore it. We must confront it. We must conquer it
to possess the promise. Walking God’s way.
The only way to conquer the Jericho's in our lives is God’s
way and that is by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,
in God’s word, in the blood of cavalry’s cross,
the finished work of Jesus.
20. rue worship of God involved continued obedience.
A thread of obedience runs
through this entire story
When the Lord met Joshua, he
obeyed.
When the priests were given
strange orders, they obeyed.
When the army was told to
follow the priests, they obeyed.
They obeyed every
command of God
