2. The Body in Motion which explores human movement through anatomy, physiology, fitness and biomechanics.
3. Health Priorities in Australia which investigates current health issues in Australia and the role of the healthcare system in addressing these priorities.
4. Factors Affecting Performance which analyzes approaches to training, skill development, and contributions of psychology, nutrition and recovery to athletic performance.

5. What strategies help to promote the

Health promotion is the process of enabling people to
increase control over, and to improve, their health. It
moves beyond a focus on individual behaviour towards a
wide range of social and environmental interventions.

THE BODY IN MOTION
The scientific foundations of human
movement. Exploring how and why the body
moves in particular ways, focusing on the
relationships between anatomy, physiology,
fitness, biomechanics and efficient human
movement.

Health Priorities in Australia
Examining the health status of Australian’s
investigating in depth the current health
priority issues in Australia. Further examine
the role the health system and promotion
play in order to achieve better health.

There are several groups in Australia with worse health
than the general population due to a range of
environmental and socio-economic factors.

Health promotion is the process of
enabling people to increase control

reach a state of complete
physical, mental and social well-
being, an individual or group must be
able to identify and to realize
aspirations, to satisfy needs, and to
change or cope with the environment.
Health is, therefore, seen as a resource
for everyday life, not the objective of
living. Health is a positive concept
emphasizing social and personal
resources, as well as physical capacities.
Therefore, health promotion is not just
the responsibility of the health
sector, but goes beyond healthy life-

15. HSC Core 2 –
Factors Affecting
Performance
Explore the physical and psychological bases of
performance. Students analyse approaches to
training and skill development and investigate
the contributions of psychology, nutrition and
recovery strategies to performance.
