This is the very competitive era of borderless business, where technology brings the easiness. Todayâs business is totally dependent on communication; here technology plays a very vital role also. These very necessarily suggest us to be efficient in technology to compete in global business. With an increasing number of organizations exploiting information technology in innovative ways, many companies have been adding a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to their executive leadership teams. Technologies are now using for both internal and external communication of firms. Technologies are using in both written and oral communication. Different technological tools are being used in todayâs business communication. More and more tools are being introduced every day. In this presentation Iâve just tried to analyze about the existing technological tools, theirs impact on business communication, advantages and disadvantages of different tools and their continuous improvement and also about upcoming technologies, which may play more important roles on business communication.

Transfer means the message is received in a form that can be interpreted by the receiver. Understanding the message is not the same as the receiver agreeing with the message. For example, a message of increasing salary by 5% can be communicated from management to employees but may not be agreed by the employees as a whole. In a closer group, there is interpersonal communication between two or more people. In a wider scope, there is organisational communication that deploy all the patterns, network, and systems of communications within an organisation. There are four functions of communications, namely control, motivation, emotional expression, and information. Control: Formal and informal communications act to control individual's behaviours in business organisations Motivation: Communications clarify for employees what is to be done, how well they have done it, and what can be done to improve performance Emotional expression: Social interaction in the form of work group communications provides a way for employees to express themselves Information: Individuals and work groups need information to make decisions or to do their work 6.2 The process of interpersonal communications To define the process of interpersonal communication, there are sender and receiver. The meaning is transferred in the form of a message. The message should be encoded to be transmitted through the channel in use. The message should be decoded upon delivery to receiver. In all stages, there are various kinds of noise that may degrade the quality of communication. IM (Evening) Session 6 Page 1 of 8 Planning and communications Sender: a person or an organisation that has a message to deliver Message: encoded in the form of a language fit for transmitted in the communication channel e.g. very short keywords like âmeet @0800 lobbyâ if the cost is high Medium: the communication channel e.g. a piece of paper, an audio tape, electric wire Receiver: a person or persons or organisations that decode the message and may give feedback e.g. reply the message in the form of a message Noise: disturbances that interfere the communications e.g. dirt on paper, distraction nearby 6.2.1 Distortions in communications There are various causes of distortions in various stages of communications. You see some form of this requirement listed in just about every job posting. But what do employers really mean by the term âcommunication skillsâ? What are they looking for in employees? The Capella University Career Center shares their thoughts. Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills First, letâs compare hard skills to soft skills. At a minimum, most employers are looking for job applicants with certain hard skillsâor quantifiable qualifications. This includes credentials like having an appropriate degree, number of years of experience in the field, technical training, or membership in a professional organization. These are things you can list on your resume as stated facts. To narrow down the mound of applications they receive, HR departments might then look for soft skillsâor subjective skill sets like motivation, adaptability, and the crĂšme de la crĂšme soft skill: communication. You could have just as much experience and a similar education as another applicant, but if your communication skills arenât up to par, that job will slip through your fingers. So, letâs take a hard look at this soft skill. Top 7 Building Blocks of Good Communication Skills 1. Know Your Audience. Whether youâre writing an email, presenting at a meeting, collaborating with a member of another team, or speaking with a customer, adapting your message to suit your audience is a key component of good communication. For example, an information technology director needs to be able to âsellâ a project to an executive without getting too bogged down by the technical details. At the same time, that director also needs to communicate logistical instructions to the production and development team. 2. Listen. No, Really. Listen. Being a good listener is an essential component of being a good communicator. In conversation, you must resist the temptation to formulate a reply in your head before the speaker is done talking. Instead, spend that time actively listening to them, sending both nonverbal and verbal listening responses. For emails, try not to respond right away. Close the email and reread it later if you can. You will likely pick up more information on the second read and be able to more appropriately respond to the request. 3. Write Well and Proofread. Good written communication cannot be underestimated or undervalued in the workplace. When you write professionally, you need to write well. This means check your spelling, use good grammar, and, avoid industry jargon. Proofread your work before you send it. This applies to emails, presentations, memos, reports, blogsâreally any form of written communication in the workplace. 4. Talk the Talk. Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with others, communicating to your supervisor, and speaking with customers or clients. This means speaking clearly, concisely, and loudly (but not too loud), while building a good rapport with your audience. (See #1.) 5. Present with Confidence. Many profes
