2. OVERVIEW

Industry of Things World 2016: Beyond the hype
Industry of Things World 2016 proved that the Internet of Things is not a hype anymore but here to stay. Over 950
senior experts from 42 countries gathered in September 19-20 in Berlin to define the future and real world
applications of IoT in an industrial setting. With keynotes from distinguished personalities in the field like Prof
Wahlster (CEO, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence) and Dr Rodney Brooks (CTO,
RethinkRobotics) dedicated to how new technologies and strategies will change how companies will conduct
business in the next few years, made this event one not to miss.
International case studies on how industrial IoT is being implemented within companies, how it changes business
models, what the impact is on legacy systems and IT infrastructure, how data driven decision making models are
moving more into the centre of company strategies, but also the role and future of humans and our interaction with
technology were centre stage in all discussions and presentations during the two days in Berlin. One thing was
clear: IoT is changing the way we will be conducting business and we need to change our mind-set. Co-operations
and collaborations across industry verticals are key to create a sustainable and viable ecosystem.
Shaping the future of the Industrial IoT in 2017
Industry of Things World is coming back on September 18-19, 2017 to bring you once again the most thought-
provoking and leading experts in the field. Join us again next year for the chance to be part of the elite group of
experts shaping the future of the Industrial Internet of Things.
