Avraham Burg Former Speaker of the Knesset
A member of New Israel Fund’s International Council, Avraham Burg
is a social and political activist and a staunch supporter of peace in the
Middle East. The youngest Speaker in the history of the Knesset (1999–2003),
Burg has been a well-known public leader in Israel for over 20 years and is
recognized as one of the best speechmakers in politics. He has also served as
Executive Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
Since leaving public service, Burg has been a committed advocate for
pluralism and tolerance in Israeli society and for the separation of politics
and religion. He is author of several best-sellers, including God is Back
and The Holocaust is Over: We Must Rise from its Ashes, as well as a
popular television personality and frequent contributor to both Israeli and
overseas media.
Contributors of $1,000 or more are invited to an early reception at
5:15 pm featuring Burg in conversation with Rabbi Brian Lurie.

and creative lay leaders. She has devoted the last 25 years to creating a
more just and safe world through her activism and philanthropy. Holding
leadership roles at NIF, the Global Fund for Women, Women Donors
Network, and Facing History and Ourselves, Diane advances human rights,
especially for women and girls, as well as equality and social justice in
Israel and around the world. An executive coach and career counselor by
profession, Diane inspires individuals and organizations to achieve their
highest purpose.
Jeremy Lizt New Generations Leadership Award
Jeremy Lizt has dedicated the last seven years to developing our young
NIF community, New Generations. Current chair of the San Francisco
New Generations Board, Jeremy is an active ambassador for NIF — ​ peaking
s
publicly, recruiting new membership, traveling to Israel on an NIF Study
Tour, and recently co-chairing the New Generations Benefit. Jeremy holds
degrees from Harvard and Oxford and is co-founder and Vice President of
Engineering at Rapleaf, a web personalization company.
