5. | EUROPEAN SOIL PARTNERSHIP
• lack of strategic coordination (policies with strategic vision > non binding)
• lack of holistic approach (soil functions)
• indirect soil protection (derived from protection of other resources)
8. | EUROPEAN SOIL PARTNERSHIP
Non-legally-binding agreements and
guidelines promote the development
of national legislation for the
protection of soils, such as the FAO’s
Global Soil Partnership, the revised
World Soil Charter […] and the related
« Voluntary Gudelines for Sustainable
Soil Management […]. A recently
established European Soil Partnership, a
regional soil partnership within the
Global Soil Partnership, invites
governments to join a « coalition of the
willing » towards European soil
protection.
12. | Eurosoil 2020
A strong collaboration with the European
Confederation of Soil Sciences Societies
(ECSSS) is a part of the ESP strategy for
communicating soil-related issues to all
stakeholders.
The next congress, with the objective is to
“connect people and soil” will be held on 23-
28th August 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland.
EUROSOIL 2020 shall be not only a pure
scientific conference. It strives to attract, apart
from scientists, representatives of soil-related
stakeholders and the interested public, and to
give them a stage for their soil-related issues.
