The Nigerian education system has faced a declining standard over the past decades due to outdated policies from the 1970s, frequent school closures from strikes, poor secondary-level exam results, inadequate funding, shortage of qualified teachers, and lack of facilities. Saving the education system requires holistic efforts, including policy changes from the government as well as behavioral changes from citizens, as changing Nigerians' mindsets about education is key to addressing its dwindling quality.
