CAREER HISTORY & SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS
Software Test Manager II, HP 3PAR, 2013-2015. Directed automation development integration testing
teams for the StorServ product line. Developed automation solutions to speed testing and product
development process. Collaborated closely with SQA management. Managed budgets to $500K and staff
to 24. Notable achievements include:
Accelerated time-to-market. HP 3Par was looking for ways to speed new products to
market. Reengineered testing processes and systems. Increased automation coverage by
40% including regression and legacy features as part of nightly integration testing. Shaved
two to three weeks from the average testing cycle, shortening product release cycles and
time-to-market by 10%.
Built a high-powered QA/testing operation. Searching for innovative ways to boost
productivity, took on responsibility for establishing automation development and regression
test teams at HP 3PAR. Assembled the teams using a mix of homegrown and newly hired
talent. Created an automation roadmap and harness framework. Enabled overnight
unattended integration testing. Strengthened the QA and testing capabilities, capacity and
efficiency, resulting in faster turnaround and stabilization of daily builds.
Improved testing efficiency & product stability with a GUI-based tool. Seeking to
enhance software stablility, HP 3PAR needed a method for identifying failures and root
causes. Led a development of GUI test harness suite, including database and report
generation tools. Enabled engineers to easily customize tests to execute and quickly identify
areas of failures, as well produce real-time reporting of test trends. Significantly improved
efficiency, reducing costs and testing/code development time by as much as two weeks per
release.
Senior Test Manager, Brocade Communications, 2006-2013. Promoted to build and manage an
automation development and regression testing operations in the US, India and Vietnam. Led projects to
increase productivity, expedite testing and speed product releases. Managed budgets to $1.5M and staff
to 40. Key contributions:
Created a robust centralized automation strategy. Saw a need for Brocade to
standardize automation testing across all product lines. Devised an automation roadmap.
Restructured/consolidated all automation teams into a single, unified operation across all
engineering. Implemented a centralized automation framework/harness. Increased
capabilities, reliability, coverage, capacity and efficiency, resulting in faster product release
times.
Cut testing/automation costs $2.5M annually with offshoring. Brocade needed to
increase testing/automation capacity well controlling expenses. Initiated an offshoring
program, building engineering teams in India and Vietnam. Managed all facets of the

program from negotiations and recruiting to training and infrastructure. Virtually doubled
capacity while slashing costs 30%+.
Leveraged automation to speed up testing cycles. Marketing and sales saw a demand
for faster product releases. Developed a single seamless automation framework across all
product lines. Built new regression testing operations in the US, India and Vietnam. Enabled
24/7 automated testing on 50% of all regression and legacy features. Accelerated overall
testing cycles 30%.
Previously at Brocade, System Test Manager (2001-2005) and Test Lead/Staff Engineer (1998-2001).
Accomplishments include:
Instrumental in a game-changing scalable SAN solution. Brocade was looking for ways
to strengthen its competitive edge in the storage area network (SAN) market. Built a dark lab
to construct a network comprising 4,000 servers, 50TB of storage and SANS scaled across
6,000 fiber channel ports. Utilized APCON intelligent network monitoring and Linux kernel-
based virtual machines to enable unattended/remote testing, automation and lab
management. Instituted new system and scalability testing processes in close collaboration
with software engineers. Leveraged the dramatically improved scalability to cement
Brocade’s position as market leader.
Slashed product release cycles by 20%. Time-consuming and inefficient system and
scalability testing processes slowed Brocade product releases, impacting revenue, margins
and competitiveness. Developed a high-efficiency automation infrastructure, reengineered
testing processes and established SQA Best Practices. Enabled automation of up to 80% of
all required system tests. Cut release time-to-market by 20%, saving weeks of development
work for each release.
Stood up a high-efficiency SQA lab & established standards. Lack of standardization,
shared templates and limited capacity impeded testing of new Brocade products. Designed
and built a software quality assurance lab. Created all infrastructure, standards, Best
Practices and processes from the ground up. Defined highly adaptable test templates.
Strengthened training and technical guidance to enhance core competencies. Established
the lab as critical organizational component contributing to Brocade’s growth.

Married with four children. I am active youth sports and Boy Scouts. In my spare time, I enjoy family and
