Engagement Challenge
MAY 2015: EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Building and retaining a team of dedicated employees is a critical challenge for companies of all
sizes. Engaged employees help grow a company’s bottom line, but business leaders need to give
those employees compelling reasons to stay. As organizations invest in strategies to foster an
engaged workforce, here are several survey results to keep in mind.—By Judith Aquino and Lorri Cosentino
Millennials are
the least engaged
group, at 28.9%.
The proportion of respondents citing culture
and engagement as a “very important”
issue nearly doubled from
26% to 50% between
2014 and 2015.
Roughly 70% of
U.S. workers are not
engaged at work.
Highly engaged
employees were 87%
less likely to leave their
companies than
their disengaged
counterparts.
Two-thirds (66%) of HR respondents
reported that they are updating
their engagement and
retention strategies.

  • 1. Tackling the Employee Engagement Challenge MAY 2015: EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT Building and retaining a team of dedicated employees is a critical challenge for companies of all sizes. Engaged employees help grow a company’s bottom line, but business leaders need to give those employees compelling reasons to stay. As organizations invest in strategies to foster an engaged workforce, here are several survey results to keep in mind.—By Judith Aquino and Lorri Cosentino Millennials are the least engaged group, at 28.9%. The proportion of respondents citing culture and engagement as a “very important” issue nearly doubled from 26% to 50% between 2014 and 2015. Roughly 70% of U.S. workers are not engaged at work. Highly engaged employees were 87% less likely to leave their companies than their disengaged counterparts.
