4. The PRODUCE model offers:

comprising: 32 PRODUCE Foundations & the
national coordinating body COFUPRO
• Assists federal and state government agencies
develop and implement alliances.
• Promotes and finances research projects and
the transfer and adoption of technological
innovation.

8. Avocado Product System
Michocan
Intervention Strategy
Through innovation in production processes, capacity
building, strengthening management and administrative systems, and
providing information on environmental sustainability and
leadership, the avocado product system is strengthened.
9. Cotton Product System
Chihuahua
Technology transfer to augment production, and the use of
improved seed stock.
Issues:
• The international cotton market is caracterised by high
price volatility.
• Uncertainty and caution in all the links in the industry
• High costs of produccion, inputs, seed stock and related
services
• Low profitability
• Abandonment of activity
10. Cotton Product System
Chihuahua
Impacts:
• Increase in production by 171.4%
• Entrance of additional producers.
• Reduction of seed stock costs by 35%
• Reduction in water use by almost 2,000 m3 per hectare
• Reduction in the application of pesticides by 50%
• Decrease in contamination from the sector
12. INNOVAGRO NETWORK
An initiative of COFUPRO A.C. & IICA, as part of a
strategic program of innovation to promote
productivity and competitively, the network was
established as an organization in 2011.
Contributes to the development of the affiliated
countries agribusiness, through mechanisms of
cooperation, strategic alliances, and innovative
management processes.
13. Challenges for Agri-Food Innovation
• Innovation is a strategic factor in the mitigation and / or adaptation
to climate change and food security issues.
• Growth in investment in research, development and
innovation, and their use, will be crucial to the long term growth of
food supply, availability and pricing challenges to be met by 2050.
