What is Linked Data?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMjkI4hJej0
Linked Data (Internet of Data) is a generalization of the
internet of documents.
In the internet of documents, a URL gets its meaning through its
name and because human beings can read and understand its
content (webpages).
In the internet of data, a URI gets its meaning because machine
can read and interpret its content. Additionally names are
chosen to be self-explaining for humans

Hinweis der Redaktion
This to highlight the fact that it is not a task that is far away from the usual activities of an archive.

Ranking model from Tim Berners Lee
The purpose of Linked data is to publish on the internet the content of databases in a way that is fully compatible with the technology of the internet and in a format that is open.
URI are primary keys that can be used by others to refer to the same entity.
What is crutial here is that we can create relations to other data elements. But more important: anybody can add a new attribute else where to add information, in the same way as if someone makes a reference to your website with a comment that this is a very good website. This is not changing your content but if this comment is made by a trusted party it bring added value to your page.
Open Data channels are use to make this dataset known and possibly used by a community of specialists.
The opportunity will be to publish this new type of data and link these items with other LD sources
The challenge as an archive will be soon or later to deal with this type of data in our digital sources.
