Airbus has launched an app on the
market, w ith w hich the fans can book
guaranteed A380 flights. Many selfies
are posted on social netw orks like
Tw itter, Facebook and Instagram by the
passengers on board the giant aircraft.
In social media there are even proper fan
clubs of the A380. Now the aircraft
manufacturer w ants to make even better
use of this popularity. The special flight
search engine called "iflyA380" officially
began operations in July and w as
presented to the public at the Farnborough
Airshow 2016. The A380 flight search engine
w as developed in close cooperation w ith the 13
airlines w ho operate the 193 giant jets w hich
have been delivered up till now . In the search
engine "iflyA380", the passengers can enter the
desired route and the date. Then they w ill be
show n w hich airline is offering w hich flights
and at w hat time and at w hat price.

SOLAR PLANE HAS FLOWN AROUND THE WORLD
The tw o pilots Bertrand Piccard and André Boschberg have made a dream come true w ith
their entire team. They flew more than 40,000 kilometres around the w orld w ith the solar
plane "Solar Impulse 2". On 26 July 2016, the solar plane landed again in Abu Dhabi after 16
stops - the starting point of the historic journey. The project is to promote the potential of
renew able energy and the associated improved quality of life and also to advertise
inventiveness. 17,000 solar cells are mounted on the w ings w hich generate electricity for the
four propellers. Batteries are used as a storage medium and also make night flights possible.
How ever, the mission w as not alw ays smooth. On the flight from Japan to Haw aii, the
batteries w ere damaged, so the pilot had to make a nine-month forced break. Shortly before
the final leg to Abu Dhabi, there w as a one-w eek delay because Piccard became ill and the
w eather did not cooperate.
