About this course-module
• After the “Beginners’ course on
Islam” , which concisely and
adequately prepares a
Muslim/Muslimah towards his/her
basic Islamic education upon the
paradigm of “IIMAN-’AMALIHSAN”, after which they would be
introduced to an “intermediate”
level of learning in:

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH,
MOST COMPASSIONATE,
MOST MERCIFUL.

AQA-ID/TAUHEED, FIQH and AKHLAQ/TASAWWUF.

• By “intermediate” we do mean –
further elucidations of the same
basic topics, but more towards
inculcation of deeper appreciation,
understanding, conviction and
commitment in the aspects of:
• AQEEDAH / TAUHEED
• FIQH
• AKHLAQ / TASAWWUF

• Each of these would be approached
systematically, with adequate
introduction; explanation of
important terminologies; its history
and development; the raison d'être of
its study; appropriate explanation of
current controversies or confusion (if
any) on the subject; equipping
students with the basis so as to
remove any doubts or conjectures.

• Notwithstanding, the essential spirit
in learning at this “intermediate”
level is the inculcation of “ADAB” as
faithfully practised in traditional
learning circles and Madrasah.


• One current Muslims’ approach to
learning which we have highlighted
and criticised thus hoping to avoid is :
“Their learning Islam as a subject.”


• One current Muslims’ approach to

• We believe it should be subjecting
oneself to Islam, insha-Allah.

• We have already conducted (at
intermediate level) all these three
modules previously .–and is
commencing the cycle again for those
who may have missed it.
• Also, this is to provide students from
the recently concluded Beginners
Course on Islam to proceed to this
“Intermediate Level”.

• Thus, insha-Allah the first module
(Intermediate level) following the
earlier Beginners course is this
module -18 sessions - entitled:

[1] Introduction to study of Tauheed .


• As in all our approach in Education we seek to provide adequate and
satisfactory exposure regarding Islam
and their nurturing as adults, mostly
to new Muslims (converts/reverts),
and in the English language, who
may have been from other
faith/system, etc. –

• Therefore, our curriculum may not necessarily be
similar to what (born)Muslims here have been
exposed to in the Malay language.

• Yet, in as much it can benefit new
Muslim, we have long realized that
this curriculum in fact is what every
young English speaking Muslims
here need. Especially to prepare
them for future work in Da’wah
and in their assisting the education
of our next generation.

• Yet, in as much it can benefit new
Muslim, we have long realized that
this curriculum in fact is what every
young English speaking Muslims
here need. Especially to prepare
them for future work in Da’wah
and in their assisting the education

May Allah SWT grant us TAUFIQ and HIDAAYAH.
And may He accepts us and be pleased with all
our endeavour.

Muslims will foolishly dispute and
contend over certain theological

To me, the biggest take away point here is:
sure, Islam has rules, Islam has regulations
and certain rituals we need to do. But if we
spend our whole life following every single
rule to the letter, doing every single ritual to
the letter, yet, if our hearts are filled with
pride, and we don’t do it because of Allah
but to raise yourself above others...then in
the end, it will all count for nothing…

… So takeaway is; know the rules, know the
regulations, but don't just stop at learning how
to do something. Learn why we need to do it,
what is the objective? And most importantly,
we must always, always be humble and
sincere.
If we are sincere and humble in our
submission to Allah, Insya Allah, with His
Infinite Mercy, He will forgive our sins and
bless us with Jannah.

Thanks ustaz for this class. I see this class as an
essential one, because there is so much
confusion in our community about this matter
such that in the end, the real knowledge of
these things are lost, firstly, and we waste too
much time on accusing others rather than doing
other beneficial things, secondly. Our gratitude
thus to ustaz for “de-fusing the confusion.”

This approach to learning Tauhid is
really helpful to me. Because it allows
me to see clearly how is it that in other
religious communities, their
admittance that God is One is
insufficient to reach the actual
meaning of Tauhid, which I see as
“The Pure Oneness of God”, which
only Islam has, and in which other
religions fall short of.

This is probably the reason that it is
said in a hadith that “The key to
paradise is La ilaha illallah.”
And to me, only Islam teaches this
phrase in its true, pure and perfect
form. Wallahu ‘alam.

Perhaps it is partly due to the ‘curse’ of the IT
generation in the era of fitan we live in, where
Sheikh Google and overwhelming information is
abound and we are ‘indoctrinated’ to have a
“why this and that?” mentality.
Don’t get me wrong… it is not that Islam frowns
upon questioning (it is a religion for the
intellects); rather it is the manner and what is
being questioned that reflects the adab and level
of gratitude of a Believer, which the earlier
generations have and our’s lack, wa-Allahu a’lam!

… It dawned on me why Ustaz spoke about
putting ‘aql (the rational mind) in its proper
place and how he cautioned us about causes
of wrong thinking, information is not
knowledge, etc. in earlier lessons.
Why? In this lesson, Ustaz said that doubt is
not knowledge but admission of ignorance
due to the limitation of the mind. This is an
important point.

Why? Uncertainty of reality led many astray
because ignorance may inadvertently lead
to shirk, which reflects being zulm (unjust)
to the self!
Ustaz reminded us about the imminent
reality via QS al-Isra’ 17: 36 – “Do not follow
anything, which you have no knowledge of.
Verily, [your] hearing and sight and heart –
all of them – will be called to account for it
[on Judgment Day]”.

“This class at times resembles the science
lessons we learnt in school, except that it
always lead to the obvious conclusion of
God’s existence.
Science can explain the “what” and the
“how” but this lesson on Tauheed not only
acknowledges the “what” and the “how”, but
guides our mind to the obvious conclusion of
the “why” – as the proof of Divine wisdom –
not meaningless random-chance.”
