:: Since 2001, ICT Points & Òmnia (ICT
classrooms integrated in the Catalonia's
network to promote access to ICT and
Internet)  are installed in all prisons in
Catalonia

computers

resources to prison centers

3. AlfaDigital Program
• Since 2007, AlfaDigital program  actions that aims
to incorporate ICT in everyday life prison
• “Cyberaules” is a project integrated in
AlfaDigital Program:

6. Cyberaules Technical scheme
• LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) 
several thin clients (not HD) connected to a
server
– enables the use of "obsolete” computers
– Economic management network
• Only the server to be updated
• The user identification is valid for the entire network
• Free software Ubuntu Server, software for
socioeducational activities, Moodle & Wikipedia

network
• In CP Puig de les Basses  one contents
server allows linking Cyberaules
• 1 instructor in each center
– training of trainers (16 inmates)
– technical recycling and networks maintenance
• Inmates training other inmates and manage
Cyberaules

10. Results (since 2008)
• 350 computers recycled:
• Creating 23 Cyberaules in 5 Prisons
• Preparation of others autonomous workstations
for educative actions
• Facilitate access to ICT equipment through
cultural activities  not (only) formal training
• Promoting de active role of the inmates
