Honors Art History 1de Beaufort<br />Honors Project: Exploring the Ancient Ruins of Palm Beach Gardens<br />The year is 3067 CE.<br />Sea levels have gone down dramatically after the implementation of the Giant Sponge Project and The Great War of Texastan has just ended in a humiliating defeat for the once proud peoples of the country of Tea Worship. Because of this great victory against Texastan, funds have been made newly available for cultural and archeological exploration of the formerly submerged lowlands.<br />You are a crack team of Art Historian Archeologists who have been tasked with documenting and reporting a site where public art or architecture has been discovered. In your video segment, you must discuss the following:<br />1. A formal description of the work, materials, size, etc.<br />2. Possible theories of construction<br />3. Possible theories of purpose<br />Why was the work made?<br />Who was the work made for?<br />What was the cultural significance of the site?<br />Religion, spirituality<br />Power/politics<br />Cultural values<br />4. Discussion of an even more ancient work that seems similar in some way in order to compare and contrast.<br />Please meet with your group at the site you have chosen and write a script covering all these points. <br />We will meet at a class of each of these three sites and will take footage.
