The moral theme of Great
Expectations by Charles Dickens is
that affection, loyalty, and conscience
are more important than social
advancement, wealth, and class.
But only the Bible tells you where to
properly place your affection and
loyalty.

Jer 29:11
11) For I know the thoughts that I think toward
you, saith the LORD,
thoughts of
peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end.

you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not
of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Every person has a future; and many have
A hope that proves to be a delusion.
We have “the hope not ‘a‘ hope
Titus 3:7
7) That being justified by his grace, we
should be made heirs according to the hope
of eternal life.

the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm
you, plans to give you hope and a future.
So, if you don’t prosper right now God’s
plans failed. Poverty = harm

Here is a good socialist message,
everyone should be on welfare and
the opposite of welfare is evil.

The opposite of peace with God is
evil.
The gift is at the end.

is a tree of life.
Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the
LORD God to grow every tree that is
pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the
tree of life also in the midst of the garden,
and the tree of knowledge of good and
evil.

is in the midst of the garden, God hath said,
Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch
it, lest ye die.

What died in the garden?

11. Olive tree of life= when the desire cometh, it
is a tree of life.
Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear
what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To
him that overcometh will I give to eat of the
tree of life, which is in the midst of the
paradise of God.
Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and
on either side of the river, was there the tree
of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits,
and yielded her fruit every month: and the
leaves of the tree were for the healing of the
nations.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have right
to the tree of life, and may enter in through
the gates into the city.

behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl
upon the top of it, and his seven lamps
thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps,

Prov 11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his
expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust
men perisheth.
The end is only good
Prov 11:23 The desire of the righteous is only
good: but the expectation of the wicked is
wrath. A wicked man expects to be judged
and that it will end in wrath.
Discipline = future delight
Prov 19:18 Chasten thy son while there is
hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

14. Expectation of the sons of God
Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the
creature waiteth for the manifestation of the
sons of God.
John 1:12
12) But as many as received him, to them
gave he power to become the sons of God,
even to them that believe on his name:
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the
sons of God came to present themselves
before the LORD, and Satan came also
among them.

John 1:12

This is not God “authorizing” anyone
to do anything.
It is “POWER” placed within every
Christian to fit him to replace one of
“THE SONS OF GOD” mentioned in
Genesis 6.

16. This means WE are the replacements for
the “sons of God” who left their first
estate, and we are permanent
replacements (unlike those in Rev.
12:7,9),
Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven:
Michael and his angels fought against the

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast
out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and
Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he

for we were redeemed by BLOOD.
Angels have no blood.

17. Phil 1:28-30 28 And in nothing terrified by
your adversaries: which is to them an evident
token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and
that of God. 29 For unto you it is given in the
behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but
also to suffer for his sake; 30 Having the same
conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be
in me.
Phil 1:20 According to my earnest
expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall
be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as
always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in
my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
Ps 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for
my expectation is from him.

18. Isa 20:5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed
of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their
glory.
Isa 20:6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall
say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation,
whither we flee for help to be delivered from
the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?
Acts 12:11 And when Peter was come to

expectation of the people of the Jews.
