Christ will return again someday. When he does, there will be both fear and favor. Many church members and the entire world who reject Christ will be left behind (the fear). True believers will receive new, perfect bodies and be reunited with loved ones. They will see God face to face, receive rewards, and attend the marriage supper of the Lamb (the favor). Believers are urged to be ready, as Christ's return will happen unexpectedly. They should occupy until he comes and press on to receive their full reward in his eternal kingdom.
1. Christs Coming, the
Hope for all Ages
It may be at morn, when the day is awaking,
When sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking,
That Jesus will come in the fullness of glory
To receive from the world âHis own.â
ï· Refrain:
O Lord Jesus, how long, how long
Ere we shout the glad songâ
Christ returneth! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah!Amen.
Hallelujah!Amen.
Isa 38:11
11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD,
in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more
with the inhabitants of the world.
I. The Fact
-Christ is coming again-
2. In the OT the type is given (Exod 23:17; Deut 16:16;
1Kgs 9:25; 2Chr 8:13) three times a year all males
were to appear before the LORD in Jerusalem.
I believe the church will soon be raptured out then a
Mid. Tribulation rapture followed by a Post
Tribulation rapture.
Regardless of your view on the details the Bible
makes it clear Christ will return.
Beginning in Gen 3:15 the God given promise of
hope is, Christ will come.
When He did his own received him not; so,
he said Iâm going to give you some time to think
about that and then
Iâm coming again.
(Joh 14:3) "If I go⊠I will come again".
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto myself;
that where I am, there ye may be also.
3. (Act 1:11) When He ascended from the Mount of
Olives, and a cloud received Him out of their sight
and two angels said.
Acts 1:11
11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why
stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same
Jesus, which is taken up from you into
heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye
have seen him go into heaven.
Why is this important to us?
The very honor and the integrity of Jesus Christ
depends upon His coming again.
If not, His Word is broken and His character is gone.
Jesus Christ came once; and will come again.
ï· He came once and began His work; he will
return and complete it.
ï· He came once and wore a crown of thorns; he
will return and wear a crown of glory.
Israel is dependent on his return for the fulfillment
of their national hope, and Godâs promise.
This physical earth is groaning and travailing in
pain, waiting for his return.
4. The Church is waiting for his return.
He will come again!
Not only does this give hope for the future but is a
comforting hope for today.
Heb 10:37
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall
come will come, and will not tarry.
In Romans (Rom 11:26).
Rom 11:26
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is
written, There shall come out of Sion the
Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness
from Jacob:
In 1Corinthians (15:51-52) we learn Our total
transformation is dependent on his return.
1Cor 15:51-52
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not
all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at
the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and
the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we
shall be changed.
5. In Philippians (Phil 3:20-21)
Phil 3:20-21
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from
whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord
Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may
be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
according to the working whereby he is able
even to subdue all things unto himself.
In 1Thessalonians (1Th 4:16).
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from
heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the
dead in Christ shall rise first:
In 2Timothy (2Ti 4:8).
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous
judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me
only, but unto all them also that love his
appearing.
In Titus (Tit 2:13).
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the
glorious appearing of the great God and our
Saviour Jesus Christ;
6. In James (Jam 5:8).
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for
the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
In 2Peter (2Pe 1:16).
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised
fables, when we made known unto you the
power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
In 1John (1Jn 3:2).
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it
doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be
like him; for we shall see him as he is.
In Jude (Jdg 1:24).
24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from
falling, and to present you faultless before the
presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
In Revelation (Rev 1:7).
7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every
eye shall see him, and they also which pierced
7. him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail
because of him. Even so, Amen.
Christ will come again. Itâs a fact.
II. The Fear
Some will be left behind. This is also a fact.
Matt 24:40-41
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall
be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the
one shall be taken, and the other left.
For those left the words of Jeremiah will be a
fulfilled prophecy played out in their lives:
Jer 8:20
20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended,
and we are not saved.
When Noah went into the ark, the door was shut.
When Christ calls up His own, He will close the door.
8. A. Many Church-Members will be left behind.
(the superficial religious crowd, the hypocrites)
They had a Religion, but not Christ;
they had a form of Godliness, but not the Power
thereof;
they bore the name of Christ upon their lips, but not
in their hearts;
He was unto them âas a very lovely song of one that hath a
pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrumentâ, but they
never knew Him as Savior.
They knew something of the "Man of Galilee," but they
knew nothing of the Christ of Calvary.
Not only the hypocrites, butâŠ
B. All the worldwill be left behind
(The heathen)
the world who knew Him not;
the Jews who received Him not;
all this Christ-rejecting world will be left behind.
The world has no part in Christ, nor has Christ any part in
the world.
9. Jas 4:4
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not
that the friendship of the world is enmity
with God? whosoever therefore will be a
friend of the world is the enemy of God.
When He comes, those who received Him not,
will not be received of Him.
III. The Favor
The joy for those called out.
Rev 19:9
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are
they which are called unto the marriage
supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me,
These are the true sayings of God.
A. First, there will be a new body.
B. There will be the meeting of lovedones, the living andthe
dead, and, what a joythat will be.
10. C. There Will be a pure mind.
1Cor 13:12
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but
then face to face: now I know in part; but then
shall I know even as also I am known.
D.There will be no oppressionfrom the Devil.
E. There will be the meeting with the LordHimself "Soshall we
ever be withthe Lord."
F. There will be a reward ceremony(2Co 5:9-10).
G.There will be the marriage supper of the Lamb (Rev 19:7-9).
My eyes have caught the vision,
And my ears the blest refrain,
Of the happy saints in Glory
Of that raptured Heavenly train;
For the Lord will shout the summons,
And the dead in Christ shall rise,
11. With the living they will hasten
To the meeting in the skies.
IV. The Deadline
This is a limited time offer.
We may not know the day or the hour, but weâve
been given enough information to make our
decision.
Matt 24:44
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an
hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
We do not only want to be raptured with the saints, but
we want to reign with the Lord, but that is determined
now.
2Tim 2:12
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if
we deny him, he also will deny us:
Our position in the millennial earthly Kingdom of Christ
depends upon our obedience and service to Christ here
and now.
12. When the Lord returns he gives authority over earth's
cities, based on how we "occupy" while the Lord has
gone on His far journey (Luk 19:12-13, Luk 19:27).
Luke 19:12-13
12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went
into a far country to receive for himself a
kingdom, and to return.
13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered
them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy
till I come.
27 But those mine enemies, which would not
that I should reign over them, bring hither, and
slay them before me.
2Pet 1:10-11
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election
sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall
never fall:
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered
unto you abundantly into the everlasting
kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ.
13. Donât be satisfied with merely fire insurance but press
on to the prize of the high calling and receive a full
reward.
Luke 21:28
28 And when these things begin to come to
pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for
your redemption draweth nigh.
Be so heavenly minded that you can be eternally
blessed.
