expected to be a one to two
year position, at which time
the employee generally seeks
an advanced degree or
certification combined with

become a Senior Associate.
Associates are primarily
responsible for data input and
analysis, research, and certain
administrative tasks.
The entry-level point for
professionals with MBA’s,
PhD’s, or those with prior
experience plus relevant
certifications (e.g., CPA, ASA,
or CFA). Senior Associates
are primarily responsible for
developing the analyses used
in engagements. Senior
Associates are capable of
working independently, as
well as on teams. Senior
Associates are often
responsible for the
completion of a part of a
project. Senior Associates are
also expected to begin
pursuing an advanced degree
or certification.
Managers are primarily
responsible for directing the
efforts of the Associates and
Senior Associates and
managing engagements with
Director or Principal input. A
Manager has started to excel
in some of the competency
dimensions and is beginning
to develop domain expertise.
Advanced degree(s) or
certification(s) are expected
prior to becoming a
Manager.
Senior Managers are
responsible for managing
engagements with Director
or Principal input. Senior
Managers have
responsibility for mentoring
and training the Senior
Associates and Associates.
Senior Managers are also
responsible for sales to
existing clients and add-on
sales. Senior Managers are
known for their domain
expertise and serve as leads
for defined practice areas.
Advanced degree(s) or
certification(s) are required
prior to becoming a Senior
Manager.
Directors are primarily
responsible for managing
engagements, but also
have responsibility for
generating business
volume through add-on
sales as well as new
business. Directors have
deep domain expertise
and are frequently called
upon to testify as experts.
Principals are responsible
for bringing in new
business, managing client
relationships, and
testifying as experts.

Associates are primarily responsible for data input and analysis, research, and certain administrative tasks. The entry-level point for professionals with MBA’s, PhD’s, or those with prior experience plus relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, ASA, or CFA). Senior Associates are primarily responsible for developing the analyses used in engagements. Senior Associates are capable of working independently, as well as on teams. Senior Associates are often responsible for the completion of a part of a project. Senior Associates are also expected to begin pursuing an advanced degree or certification. Managers are primarily responsible for directing the efforts of the Associates and Senior Associates and managing engagements with Director or Principal input. A Manager has started to excel in some of the competency dimensions and is beginning to develop domain expertise. Advanced degree(s) or certification(s) are expected prior to becoming a Manager. Senior Managers are responsible for managing engagements with Director or Principal input. Senior Managers have responsibility for mentoring and training the Senior Associates and Associates. Senior Managers are also responsible for sales to existing clients and add-on sales. Senior Managers are known for their domain expertise and serve as leads for defined practice areas. Advanced degree(s) or certification(s) are required prior to becoming a Senior Manager. Directors are primarily responsible for managing engagements, but also have responsibility for generating business volume through add-on sales as well as new business. Directors have deep domain expertise and are frequently called upon to testify as experts.
