Now The Boring Details • Relatively New Term- Coined around1960 • Extension of Business Ethics • But the Dawn of CSR was with Hawthrown Experiment in 1920s In the 1960s and 1970s the civil rights movement, consumerism, and environmentalism affected society's expectations of business. Based on the general idea that those with great power have great responsibility, many called for the business world to be more proactive in(1) ceasing to cause societal problems and (2) starting to participate in solving societal problems. Many legal mandates were placed on business related to equal employment opportunity, product safety, worker safety, and the environment.

  • 2. What do we understand by CSR? “Economic, Legal, Ethical & Discretionary Expectation that Society has of organization at a “Given Time”. - Carrol and Bucholtz Do we really need “Given Time” ?
  • 3. For Our Convenience & For Our Values Let Us Change The Definition Economic, Legal, Ethical & Discretionary Expectation that Society has of organization & organization expectations out of Society “ALWAYS”. Isn’t it always mutual – That Benefit!
  • 4. Now The Boring Details • Relatively New Term- Coined around1960 • Extension of Business Ethics • But the Dawn of CSR was with Hawthrown Experiment in 1920s In the 1960s and 1970s the civil rights movement, consumerism, and environmentalism affected society's expectations of business. Based on the general idea that those with great power have great responsibility, many called for the business world to be more proactive in(1) ceasing to cause societal problems and (2) starting to participate in solving societal problems. Many legal mandates were placed on business related to equal employment opportunity, product safety, worker safety, and the environment. 
  • 5. I Disagree Again! • CSR or Social Responsibility Or DAAN Was, Is & Will Always Be “Indispensable To Indian Values” From Daan Veer Karna in Mahabharat to Sant Kabir; All we learnt through our lifes is to help the needy & to have a mighty heart!
  • 6. 2% Mandate • It is recent that the Government has to intervene in Corporate Profit & mandate 2% investment in CSR • Companies Act 2013, Qualify Companies with 500 Cr Net Worth or 1000 cr. Net Worth or Net Profit Beyond 5 cr. To COMPULSARY CSR IRONICAL FOR INDIA
  • 7. Why Compulsory It Comes Naturally in true Leaders • I wear two hats. The one is business and increasing my shareholders' value; the other is social responsibility. - Guler Sabanci Warren Buffet Bill Gates Mark Zukerberg Richard Branson
  • 8. TOP 75 COMPANIES CONTRIBUTED ` 4000 CR. IN CSR FOR THE YEAR 2015 RELIANCE ONGC INFOSYS NTPC TCS The Government’s estimate 9000 cr. for 2015 ` 760 CR. ` 495 CR. ` 239 CR. ` 205 CR. ` 220 CR. How Was 2015 For CSR ?
  • 9. Why India Needs CSR • Initial Report Says Major Investment Was In Areas- Health, Education & Skill Development.
  • 10. Where Do We Need Major CSR? • Education • Skill Development!! Why? Demographic Dividend & Brain Drain.
  • 12.  Because it is not just the quantity of Workforce, but QUALITY that matters!  We need to intensify focus on Health, Education & Skill Development  We need Exhaustive Guidelines for absorbing the potential workforce.
  • 13. MAJOR STRENGTH FOR INDIA With 356 million 10-24 year-olds, India has the world's largest youth population despite having a smaller population than China, China is second with 269 million young people, the United Nations Population Fund's (UNFPA) State of the World's Population report said
  • 14. With a Hope! There is no hard conclusion here, we all know what we need to at our ends. One a natural disaster hits the country we act united- And Trust me Brain Drain or Unharnessed Youth Potential (Demographic Dividend) Is no less than DISASTER OF CENTURY!
