6. Your Challenge
Your challenge is to create a board game that
will be sold in shops for Christmas.
You will have to find out market research,
design your board game, write instructions
for it, make an advert for it, work out the
budget
and then pitch your idea to an audience.
7. Activity 3 – Market Research
Market research means finding out
information
about the people who you are trying to
get to buy your product.
- Find out about different board games
available in the shops?
- Find out what board games people want
to play?
9. Activity 4 – Analysing Data
Look through the information you gathered.
Now you must decide what you have learnt:
• Are there any games that are more popular
than others?
• Were there any patterns in the answers,
e.g. did a lot of people say they wanted the
same kind of product?
• Were there things they wanted that you
couldn’t possibly make?
• What were the really good ideas?
10. Activity 5– Product Name
• Using your market research, you have
to now
design a product name
• You also need to design a slogan
A slogan is a memorable phrase that
will make people think of your product
The key to people remembering your
product – even if you don’t mention
the name!

• It should be bright and colourful, fun, kid friendly and
possible even educational

• Your game needs instructions
• You have to write a set of clear instructions to explain
how your game might be played
• Remember instructions need: bossy verbs, numbered
step by step, time connectives and materials needed

• First you will need to plan what your advert will
say/contain
• Once you are finished you will take turns to film your
advert!

You need to work out how much your board game will
cost to make.
You then need to decide how much you
will sell it for and you need to make a profit!!
• If you sell 10 board games, how much will you
make?
• If you sell 5 board games, how much will you make?
• If you sell 100 board games, how much will you
make?

game

• Your advert will be shown as well
• You will be asked 3 questions – be
prepared!
17. Voting
• Listen to each groups’

• 5 minutes to play each game
• Vote for your favourite (you
cannot vote for your own group)
