7. Investment Drivers Shifting to Business Improvement Shift is Driving Increased Investmentin New Applications New Applications Increasingly Supported by Complementary Technologies Addressing Integration Complexity is Critical
8. Business improvement to take center-stage, particularly among tier 1 and tier 2 accounts AIDC Investment Drivers Shifting to Business Improvement Compliance mandates are no longer leading drivers. Enterprises view barcoding as the key to process improvement and cost savings And ultimately, when executed well, a relatively low cost, viable source of competitive differentiation
9. Fastest growing applications pertain to core to internal processes Increased utilization of barcode technology to support core processes in nearly every economic sector. The manufacturing example: Highly penetrated from an AIDC investment perspective Penetration is concentrated in compliance-driven applications Emerging core process applications e.g., WIP, Quality control and warranty returns are growing the fastest. Shift Driving Increased Investment in New Applications
10. AIDC technologies continue to converge with barcode Complementary AIDC solutions extend the value proposition of barcoding. Enterprises are accompanying their investments in barcode with other AIDC technologies to achieve incremental operational benefits. This trend is enabled by standards, and is driving increased demand for software and services: Software solutions that aggregate data from various technology platforms, converge these data, and provide analytic and reporting capabilities Consulting, integration and post-sale services that provide increased visibility to business processes, aligning the processes with established metrics and strategic objectives New Applications Increasingly Supported by Complementary Technologies RFID
11. Increased complexity puts ISV’s and System Integrators While satisfaction with manual processes is a hard objection to overcome, the other leading barriers to adoption are highly correlated. A root cause analysis might suggest that integration complexity is the fly in the ointment. ISV’s and system integrators will address increased complexity requirements associated with emerging applications. Suppliers are augmenting their channel programs to reward partners with unique capabilities. The best suppliers are creating opportunities for their shared partners to collaborate. Addressing Integration Complexity is Critical
