  2. With the programme ”Grundfos Brings Water to Life” we put our Climate paper into action! On June 1st 2010, the Grundfos Brings Water to Life programme was launched in Grundfos companies in 50 countries around the world. Grundfos Brings Water to Life is a global programme which enable the employees to take active responsibility for the world and make a real difference. Together we will contribute to solving one of the major challenges in the world and secure access to water for all. We do this by collecting funds within the Grundfos companies – either by donating directly towards the programme or by initiating activities that collect money – eg. Be arranging a flea market, setting up a candy stall throwing a party with participation a fee. Several employees have also chosen to skip employment anniversary celebrations and instead donate the money. All contributions are donated to Danish Red Cross, who will channel the money to Kenya and implement sustainable water projects based on Grundfos’ LIFELINK system. Our first goal is to raise funds for 10 water projects in Kenya before end of 2012. When we have achieved this, we will expand the programme to other countries in Africa and also Asia or Latin America. It is the first global programme of its kind in the history of Grundfos, where we work together for a common cause across departments, companies and countries. Some people ask, whether this is just a short term programme. The answer is no! Water2Life is an ongoing programme and there is no end date.
  3. Access to water is one of the greatest challenges in the world. Just to give you a bit of perspective, let’s have a look at the challenge of water. 1 billion people in this world do not have access to clean water. Contaminated water cause more deaths than war and violence Every month, 200.000 people die because of water borne diseases. Half of them are children under the age of 5. When people do not have access to clean water they are trapped in a spiral of disease and poverty. Access to clean water is the first step for human development! Grundfos has the technology and competencies to make a real difference – because we can and because we will! What we do best is to provide water for all kinds of purposes. The Water to Life programme is strategically anchored, as we make use of our core competences to make a real difference in the world!
  4. Here you see an overview of the Water2Life programme Water2Life is driven by employees globally, who make donations or initiate activities amongst their colleagues. The donations from employees and Grundfos will give the LIFELINK systems to the community as part of the water projects. A LIFELINK systems costs 27,000 Euros. Grundfos pays half of the first 10 LIFELINK systems – which means that Grundfos doubles up on the contribution from employees The Danish Red Cross is our partner in Water2Life, because it is a global organisation with a solid experience in development work and water projects. The money is transferred to Danish Red Cross via the online donation platform on www.water2life.net. This way, we can follow the global fundraising progress at all times. Besides the donations from Grundfos, Danish Red Cross also raises funds for additional project work, which a water project consists of. This includes screening and selection of villages as well as education on hygiene and project management. The value of Danish Red Cross work in the project actually equals the value of a LIFELINK system. All in all this means, that every time we, as employees, give one Euro, we actually send four Euros to Kenya because Grundfos and Danish Red Cross support the project as well. Red Cross and Grundfos LIFELINK implement the water projects in Kenya LIFELINK takes care of the technical part of the project, which includes installation and maintenance of the LIFELINK systems Red Cross takes care of the people aspect of the project, which includes finding the right village for implementation, screening it, controlling the project locally and educating people in hygiene and use of water for productive purposes. On the Water2Life portal on Insite, you can follow the progress of the fundraising, and you will also be able to view photos and videos from the actual villages in Kenya, where we shall give access to water. Further, you can share your ideas for fundraising, read more about Water2Life and get news updates on the programme on the Insite Water2Life portal First and foremost, it is all about how we, the 16,000 Grundfos employees, can give access to water for at least 16,000 people in Kenya. This means 10 water projects. This is our goal by before the end of 2012. If we give access to water to more people, it is fantastic. By 2013 we choose a new region So, we collect money for water projects, based on the LIFELINK system and Red Cross’ experience in educating in Africa. The donations from employees and Grundfos will give the LIFELINK systems to the community as part of the water projects. A LIFELINK systems costs 27,000 Euros. Grundfos Holding A/S and Danish Red Cross entered into a partnership from 1 June 2010 to 2015 We are jointly working towards the Millenium Development Goals More concretely, the aim is to implement sustainable water projects in developing countries- first goal is implementation of 10 sustainable water projects in Kenya by 2012
  6. Grundfos and The Red Cross together possess the necessary competences and resources to meet the common goal. By entering into a partnership, both parties improve the chances of achieving ground-breaking results for the benefit of people in the poorest part of the world This model illustrates how the project are divided between us. A central part of the project is the water system. We have chosen to use a Grundfos system called LIFELINK. Lifelink solves some of the greatest challenges concerning sustainable water projects: It is technical, environmental, economical and social sustainable It has a automatic and free of corruption payment system It is monitored of the systems function and water consumption And it includes service and maintenance We, thereby, achieve sustainability on all parameters!
  7. To this date, there is a total donation of 87,250 euro, including the double up from Grundfos. By employees in more than 30 countries. Many of the key champions have been very active in driving forward Water2Life, and we have seen some great fundraising activities in countries around the world, such as… There has been flea markets, raffles, break-fast events, the auction of world cup memoralia organized by Beverley, open house in DK, anniversary celebration in Germany, and many more. You can see more about these activities on the water2life portal in the news stream. Now Grundfos LIFELINK and Red Cross are working in Kenya to implement the water projects. The first one is already a reality, and the next ones will follow in the coming months. Kenya Red Cross is in dialogue with the next communities to receive the water projects.
