3. The first album, Leisure, was described as "Madchester"; a subgenre of rock music which emerged from Manchester in the late 80s/early 90s.
4. Their next albums "Modern Life is Rubbish" "Parklife" and "The Great Escape" shifted towards a more britpop sound, a genre considered to be an “evolution” of the Madchester genre. This change in style placed Blur into chart competition with Oasis, entitled "The Battle of Britpop"; two bands of a similar genre competing for chart positions.
6. On the eponymous album Blur, the band went through a more distinctive change in style, from their Britpop origins to a more alt-rock style. This brought them one of their most well-known singles "Song 2".
9. They are an animated band which, like Blur, are loosely based under the alternative rock genre, however they also make extensive use of electronic and hiphop influences. Their first single Clint Eastwood, which combined hip hop, electronic and pop styles, reached number 4 in the UK singles charts.

11. The lead single "Feel Good Inc." uses aspects of hiphop, acoustic and alternative rock in the different verses, whereas the next single, DARE, featured a more dance-oriented style, with notably less of a hiphop influence than previous singles.
12. The third single, however-"Dirty Harry" returned to the darker, hip-hop style of previous tracks, most notably from “Clint Eastwood”.

15. This was a stage musical adaptation of a Chinese novel. This was performed as a musical, the soundtrack from which forms the basis of this album; the album is a different performance of the musical's soundtrack rather than a recording from the stage performances.
