• To maximize your profile you‟ll want to:
• Update your headline & summary
• Complete your Skills section
• Update past jobs and education
• Ask for Recommendations
Now let’s get into our profiles!
7
8. Maximize Your Profile…
Maximize your ability to be
found.
Every word in your profile is
keyword searchable.
Make each section:
• keyword rich
• meaningful
• readable
Be sure to add relevant website
links and a professional photo.
Your summary should also be
keyword-rich.
8
9. Profile Sections and Limits
The best LinkedIn Profiles will
have every section completed.
• Headline – 120 characters
• Summary (w/ Specialties) –
2,000 characters
• Skills & Expertise
• Job & Education entries up to
2,000 characters each
• Recommendations
You can also move sections of your
profile. When in „edit‟ mode you can
click and drag sections to re-order.
Give it a try.
9
10. …Ask for Recommendations…
Ask your coworkers, managers, business
contacts (current and old) to leave you a
recommendation.
Best way to “ask” is to leave one for them first!
10
11. …by doing those things, you can be found!
With a well-tuned profile containing
keywords associated to your job title,
skills, etc. you will have a much
greater chance of being found in
search queries.
Just this week, Jeff‟s profile has shown
up in 14 searches and viewed by 13
different people.
Also since the beginning of the year
there have been over 8,500
appearances in search and 408
views of Jeff‟s profile.
