Be Still and Wait for God to Act by Bro. Precious Peters
1. TOPIC:
“BE STILL AND WAIT FOR
GOD TO ACT”
TEXT: EXODUS 14:13-14
A SERMON BY BRO. PRECIOUS PETERS

CHURCH OF CHRIST,
SANGOTEDO
2. Introduction
The three most common words heard
among Christians in times of crisis
are: "Lord, do something!" It is
totally against our nature as human
beings to stand still and do nothing
when we face a confusing trials.
In fact, waiting patiently for God to
act is probably the most difficult
thing about the Christian walk.
God often leads us into situations
that are alarming, critical, difficult,
in order to test us. (Psalm 37:23).
3. Does God Deliberately Set up
Alarming Crisis?
Perhaps the greatest example of these
was the crisis at the Red Sea. This trial
wasn't instigated by the devil or by
Pharaoh. It was a crisis completely
arranged by God -- set up by his very
own commands to Israel (Exodus 14:4).
God could have sent a single angel to
destroy the entire Egyptian army, in the
blink of an eye. He could have chosen to
destroy them at any point.
How do we know that God arranged this
alarming situation to test his people?
(Deut. 8:2 – 3, 16).
4. God has given us a clear
direction
The word of the Lord or the voice of direction
and deliverance is given to those who come to
a place of standing still before God! (2
Chronicles 20:3, 6, 12, 15 -17 ; Psalm 46:10).
Standing Still before the lord: it does not
mean standing without taking action or
resting on fate. Fate says, "Whatever will be,
will be." But faith changes everything. And
"standing still" is an act of faith -- an active
resting on God's promises (2 Sam, 23:5). And
God has given us enough covenant promises to
see us through any crisis or trial (Hebrews
1:2, 2 Pet. 1:3-4, Isaiah 41:10).
5. CONCLUSION
If you feel the weight of the world on your
shoulders, if you feel that your problem has no
resolution, if fear has struck your heart, let me
encourage you to stand still and watch God work -
stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Maybe your back is against the wall, is there any
rivers that seem too hard for you to cross? Is there
any mountains in your life you cannot climb? God
specializes in things thought impossible. And He
knows a thousand ways to make a way for you!
Be encouraged, fear not, stand still, and see what
God can do. God didn’t deliver His people from
slavery only to drown them when they were under
attack. And God didn’t save you only to forget
about you now.
