The Interim Annual Progress report for 2010 is based on information submitted by the Participating UN Organizations. Since formal expenditure information is only received by the MDTF Office in April, per the MOU, the expenditure information provided in the report and in this presentation is based on informal updates provided by the Participating Organizations. Final expenditure information will be provided by 31 May 2011.Based on the reports, and generally speaking, we can see that the UN-REDD Programme is steadily progressing. Partner countries increased to 29, allocations were made for 12 national programmes and the global programme. Capacity for REDD+ readiness has been supported; engagement of stakeholders has increased, and MRV capacity is also increasing. Valuable lessons have also emerged, such as the importance of national ownership, vision and leadership; coordination between all actors; and adjusting expectations for the time required for consultation as well as achievements, taking into consideration realities on the ground.Since the other sessions of this meeting will cover specific programmes, and I will highlight the financial aspects and the programmatic progress will be discussed in the later sessions on the national and global programmes.
What is nice about the GATEWAY is that the information is updated about every 2 hours, so we can have the most current information. Here we would like to acknowledge the Government of Spain for its deposit and the Government of Japan of its commitment to the UN-REDD Programme Fund.
