3.  One of the primary drivers of the Angolan
economy is its booming oil industry.
However, according to the International
Monetary Fund (IMF), the Angolan oil industry
will hit its peak in 2016. Angola is currently
the second-largest oil producing country in
Africa, and produced 1.69 million barrels so
far in 2014. In 2014, the country’s economy
will expand by an estimated 5.3 percent, 5.5
percent in 2015, and 5.9 percent in 2016
before slowing to a rate of 3.3 percent.

4.  In order to compensate for the predicted
economic slowdown of the oil industry, the
Angolan government’s main focus is
diversification and providing solutions to past
economic problems. Fortunately, the IMF
foresees expansion in other economic sectors
for the country. The organization forecasts a
6.4 percent rate of economic growth in non-
oil industries such as mining, agriculture, and
hospitality.
