2. A survey of Makomo’s main pit
exploration holes for striping ratio
calculations in mining block cut 7.
Topic
3. Due to uncertainty in expected volumes of
overburden and coal, as a planning process
there is need for an investigative analysis
from drilled exploration holes at the main
pit.
Problem Statement
4. To come up with striping ratios of the main
pit.
Aim
5. To establish control points.
To set up a base line.
To traverse around the area under survey.
To pick spot shots of existing physical features.
To survey exploration holes.
To calculate striping ratios
To compute volumes.
Objectives
6. At the main pit of Makomo Resources, there is need
for planning of mining and production to ascertain
the overburden and coal to be mined. This project
will be of great benefit to the company as it will
come up with the recent updated plan as required by
the ministry of mines Section 78 of the mining
management and safety regulations of 1990 stating
that plans should be updated every six months and
be signed by the mining commissioners. This project
will also help in the forecast of the mine.
Justification
7. Office Reconnaissance
Field Reconnaissance
Establishing a Baseline
Three point resections
Triangulation
Closed loop traverse
Spot shots of exploration holes
Volume and tonnage calculations
Striping ratio calculations
Methodology
8. Cross sectional plans showing coal and overburden
seams.
A well detailed surface plan showing all man made
and physical features drawn to a scale of 1:500.
Gross calculated figures of overburden and coal to be
mined.
Striping ratios.
