I know a lot about you, I read each of your bios, so I’m going to start off with a little bit about me.
Crisis / Issues Management Consulting – many of the crisis were Environmental (Spills), Social (Drug Recalls), or Governance (Freddie Mac).
Bought out by Interpublic Group
Partners left to form G&A In 2006 – Hank and Lou
We always tried to sell our clients on the “issues” part of issues / crisis management let’s manage the issues before the are a crisis – but they only seemed to call us back when the crisis hit!
We focused our new company on pro-active issues management of E, S, and G issues – which as defined buckets were just starting to take shape.
A few years into building G&A Institute – GRI had noticed what we were doing in the US with our research, websites, publications on Sustainability reporting.
They asked us to be the GRI data partner for the US.
What does that mean? It means we analyze EVERY SINGLE sustainability report issued by an organization in the US for over 100 different data points.
This is a pro-bono relationship and the data is shared with everyone free of charge as a public service to help build awareness and serve as a basis for other research.
You can find the reports we analyze included in the GRI Reporting database at the address on the screen and in the resource links at the bottom right of your screen.
We analyzed over 1200 Reports just last year.
Two years later GRI Asked us to become the data partner for the UK and Ireland as well.
So what else do we do when we are reading all these reports as the data partner?
We also publish and co-publish research utilizing the underlying GRI data partner data as a base to build upon.
Like our S&P 500 studies “Sustainability- Does it Matter?, where we looked at the benefits of reporting to publicly traded companies.
Or our study of external assurance of Sustainability reports in North America with Bloomberg, and GRI North America.
Thank you for coming today and hearing the exciting story of the corporate sustainability journey!
We welcome your questions and comments.
