8. Seven C’s of Communication
• Credibility- It is hallmark of communication. Success of
communication depends upon your credibility.
Communication begins with a climate of belief.
Whatever you communicate should show your earnest
desire to serve.
• Context- Communication program must square with the
realities of its environment. The context must explain
and confirm the message and not contradict it. To
communicate, a right message to a right person at a
right time should be given.
• Content- The message must have meaning for the
receiver. It must have relevance for person. It is culture
specific.
• Clarity- The message must be put in simple terms. It
should mean something to receiver as they do for the
sender. Complex issues must be compressed into
themes or slogans that have simplicity and clarity
9. • Continuity and consistency- Communication is a
never ending process. Repetition is required to
receive it. We have to repeat it such that it
penetrates into the mind as it is intended.
Repetition in communication contributes in
factual and attitude learning. One theme must
lead to another i.e. continuity and consistency.
• Channel- Only the established channels of
communication should be used. Channels which
the receivers view and respect. Creating new
channels is a difficult task. Different channels have
different impact and serve effectively in different
stages.
• Capability- Communication must take into
account the capability of the audience.
Communication is effective when they require the
least effort on the part of the recipient. This
includes factors of reading availability, and
receiver’s knowledge.
