1. Sensors-Based Wearable Systems for Monitoring of
Human Movement and Falls
Abstract:
The project focuses the applications for a rapid aging of the world’s population, along
with an increase in the prevalence of chronic illnesses and obesity, requires adaption and
modification of current healthcare models. One such approach involves tele health applications,
many of which are based on sensor technologies for unobtrusive monitoring. Therefore, the
current technological advances, in particular, involving microelectromechnical systems, have
resulted in miniaturized wearable devices that can be used for a range of applications. One of the
leading areas for utilization of body-fixed sensors is the monitoring of human movement. An
overview of common ambulatory sensors is presented, followed by a summary of the
developments in this field, with an emphasis on the clinical applications of falls detection; falls
risk assessment, and energy expenditure.
Existing System:
The existing system is consists of a manual monitoring which possess more risking. The
user’s privacy is not protected in previous wired or wireless sensor network. There are no
wearable sensors for monitoring human movement and falls. This proves to be a major drawback
in the existing system. So we go to our proposed system.
Proposed System:
This paper presents a monitoring for healthcare system, which focuses on summary of the
development of this field. The wearable sensors consist of accelerometer which has been placed
in the patient body to sense the acceleration along a sensitive axis and over a particular range of
frequencies. The sensor value is send to the controller, and that will intimate an alarm if the
person falls down which sensed by the accelerometer. The temperature also monitored of the
person when its level increased above the normal level. The status will be shown in LCD.
