Introduction
In this lesson we will understand what impact Knowledge
and Education has on Society. How Society in India has
improved due to Knowledge and Education
What is
Knowledge?
Knowledge is derived from
information but it is richer
and more meaningful than
information. It includes
familiarity, awareness and
understanding gained
through experience or
study, and results from
making comparisons,
identifying consequences,
and making connections
What is Education?


Education in its general
sense is a form
of learning in which
the knowledge, skills,
and habits of a group of
people are transferred
from one generation to
the next through
teaching, training, or
research.



Any experience that has
a formative effect on the
way one thinks, feels, or
acts may be considered
educational

.
What is Society?
Society is normally
used to refer to
the entire human
population or to a
contextually
specific division
of people
Evils Of Indian Society




Child marriage is defined as a
formal marriage or informal union
before age 18. Child marriage is a
traditional practice that in many
places happens simply because it
has happened for generations –
and straying from tradition could
mean
exclusion
from
the
community
Sati was a social funeral practice
among some Indian communities
in which a recently widowed
woman would immolate herself
on her husband’s funeral pyre
Evils Of Indian Society
Corruption is a broad term
covering a wide range of
misuse of entrusted funds
and power for privat gain:
Theft, fraud, abuse of
power etc
 Dowry, the money, goods,
or estate that a woman
brings to her husband or
his family in marriage. One
of the basic functions of a
dowry has been to serve as
a form of protection for the
wife against the very real
possibility of ill treatment
by her husband and his
family

Evils Of Indian Society




Female foeticide is the act of
aborting a foetus because it is
female. This is a major social
problem in India and has
cultural connections with the
dowry system that is ingrained
in Indian culture
Untouchability is a direct
product of the caste system. It
is not merely the inability to
touch a human being of a
certain caste or sub-caste
Removal of social evils through Education
and Knowledge
 Even

though Education was
there in India through the
Gurukul System. And even
before that, real change in social
evils started through the
Education System bought in by
the British from 1767-1947
 The British educated people
about social evils like sati and
child marriages and help abolish
them
Removal of social evils
through Education and
Knowledge
 Later

on Social workers
like Raja Ram Mohan
Roy educated people
about Sati and helped
stop it
 Jyotiba Phule and his
wife Savitribai Phule
were
pioneers
of
women's education and
women’s upliftment in
India.
Removal of social evils
through Education and
Knowledge
 The

Indian Government
has now started
knowledge and
education based
programs to abolish
social evils.
 Girls now know that
they have a right to
education. Parents also
have been educated
about child marriages
Removal of social evils
through Education and
Knowledge


People in villages now know the drawbacks
of social evils.
 Sati, Child Marriages, Corruption, female
foeticide and dowry are now banned.
Female Education is now free of cost and
people now know that education and
knowledge is necessary for upliftment
Necessity of Education
and Knowledge
 Education

and
knowledge and not only
removed social evils but
also bought progress to
the nation through
upliftment of the poor
 To change the mindset
of people, to get Justice
and for the progress of
society and the nation in
general it is necessary for
society to be
knowledgeable and
Educated
Necessity of Education and
Knowledge
 Education and





Knowledge is also
needed now days to
improve the standard
of living of society.
Without a good
education one cannot
get a good job.
Without adequate
knowledge it is not
possible to do a job
properly and with
satisfaction
Conclusion
 Without

education we would not be able to have
good jobs in the future. Without good jobs we
would not be able to become important elements
in the society.
 Without knowledge we would not be able to use
our capability and enhance our skills
Conclusion
 Education

and knowledge
is the only thing key that
can open any door. This is
an absolute truth
 It helps in the development
of a person thereby society
and thereby the country
 This is the reason why the
government and some
institutions grant
scholarships and student
loans to students who are
willing but do not have
means.
