31. Parables of the Quran O ye who believe! Cancel not your charity by reminders of your generosity or by injury, like those who spend their substance to be seen of men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last Day. They are in Parable like a hard barren rock, on which is a little soil ; on it falls heavy rain, which leaves it (just) a bare stone. They will be able to do nothing with what they have earned. Parables of the Quran And the likeness of those who spend their substance, seeking to please Allah and to strengthen their souls, is as a garden, high (elevated ground) and fertile ; heavy rain falls on it but makes it yield a double increase of harvest, and if it receives not heavy rain, light moisture suffices it. Parables of the Quran 175- Relate to them the story of the man to whom We sent Our Signs, but he passed them by: so Satan followed him up, and he went astray. 176- If it had been Our Will, We should have elevated him with Our Signs; but he inclined to the earth, and followed his own vain desires. His similitude is that of a dog: if you attack him, he pants, or if you leave him alone, he (still) pants. That is the similitude of those who reject Our Signs; so relate the story; perchance they may reflect. . . العنكبوت 29 : 176
