Drawings from UFO eyewitnesses are an important element of case data when footage is missing and part of the discussion when it comes to what may have been observed in the sky. When the question of a possible identification arises, the shape and details of the drawing are compared with conventional objects, which then also is incorporated into the argumentation.
This raises the question of what significance we can assign to drawings by UFO eyewitnesses. How reliable are such graphic representations and what can be deduced from them about what was observed in the sky?
In fact, a dearth of studies and research on this subject is apparent. In a lecture on the occasion of the UFO conference of the GEP in Lüdenscheid 2022, the topic was considered from the perspective of UFO research and science and previous findings, but also still open questions were presented.

Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

Zuverlässigkeit und Bedeutung von UFO-Zeichnungen
1. GEP-Tagung, 05.11.2022, Lüdenscheid 1
Welche Bedeutung können wir Zeichnungen zumessen?

3. Zeichnungen als Teil der Falldaten/Falldiskussion
Wichtiges Element, wenn Bildmaterial fehlt
Beantwortung der Kernfrage: “Wie sah es aus?”
Positive Aspekte von Zeichnungen:
– vermitteln originären visuellen Eindruck des Zeugen
– ergänzen verbale/schriftliche Angaben
– keine Einschränkungen durch Sprach-/Schriftfertigkeiten

4. Zeichnungen als Teil der Falldaten/Falldiskussion
Wichtiger Anhaltspunkt in der Falldiskussion
Abgleich der Zeichnung mit möglichen herkömmlichen Objekten (Form/Details)
Teil der Argumentation pro/contra IFO
Fall Bruchhausen-Vilsen,
2019 (GEP)
Wissenschaftliche Studien
Objekt- und Formwahrnehmung
5
6. Die “IFO-Message”
Fälle aus DE
Fall A67/Lorsch, 1980 (CENAP-HN)
Signallichter an Türmen/Masten
Keine Form/Strukturen erkennbar
Glockenform mit Fenstern als
eigene Intepretation
Fall Leipzig, 2016 (GEP)
Zeugenvideo
Vergleichsvideo (YouTube)
Flugzeug (Frage: Beurteilung nur anhand Zeichnung, ohne Video?)
6
7
8. Die “IFO-Message”
Beispiele von Manuel Borraz (Borraz 1990)
– Meteor oder Reentry
– Beobachtungen über mehrere
Jahrzehnte und aus mehreren Ländern
– Vom Boden und in der Luft beobachtet
– Häufig mit Fenstern gezeichnet
– Interpretation künstlicher Strukturen in
natürlichen Phänomenen
8
9. Die “IFO-Message”
UFO-Welle in Piemont (Grassino 1986)
Sichtungen am 15. September 1985, mehrere Hundert Sichtungsmeldungen und Medienecho
– Stratosphärenballon
– Massensichtungen als Forschungsgrundlage
– IFOs mit Potential für Forschungen, insb. zur
Zuverlässigkeit von Zeugen als Haupt-
informationsquelle
9
10. Die “IFO-Message”
Zwischenfazit

Testaufbau: 5 Gruppen, ~ 25 Personen, demographisch gemischt,
an unterschiedlichen Orten und Tagen
Dia eines Modellheißluftballons,
anschließend: Freie Beschreibung, Zeichnung, Fragebogen
Ausgewertet wurden:
Angabe der Zeitdauer, Qualität der Beschreibung, Qualität der
Skizzen, Weitere Angaben aus Fragebogen (Deutung des
gezeigten Objekt, UFO-Interesse & -Literatur, Einstellung zur
UFO-Forschung & zur ETH, Alter, Beruf)
Auswertung von Dr. Alexander Keul (Salzburg)
11
13. Experiment der GEP
Qualität der Objektskizzen:
Skala: 1=sehr gut, 2=gut, 3=neutral (“wischiwaschi”/nichtssagend), 4=mäßig (mit Fehler), 5=völlig falsch
Insgesamt sehr wenige sehr
gute oder völlig falsche
Zeichnungen, meistens
gut bis nichtssagend,
Ergebnis ähnlich der
verbalen Beschreibung (in 3 Grp.)
(Wunder 2021)

16. Experimente von Richard F. Haines
“What do UFO Drawings by Alleged Eyewitnesses and Non-Eyewitnesses have in
Common?” 1978 (Haines 1979)
Erster Teil : UFO-Zeichnungen von Augenzeugen und Nicht-Augenzeugen
Zeichentest nach eigener Vorstellung
Zweiter Teil: Einflüsse vorhergehender Erfahrungen auf UFO-Zeichnungen:
Formzeichentest mit regelmäßigen und unregelmäßige Formen
Zeichentest nach Vorlage (Nachzeichnen)
Zeichentest nach schriftlicher Vorlage (Beschreibung)
16
Zeichnungen waren in beiden Gruppen nahezu gleich
Vorgegebene Zeichung:
23
24. Experimente von Richard F. Haines
Zeichnungen dreier Teilnehmer, repräsentativ für alle 30 abgegebenen
24
25. Experimente von Richard F. Haines
Testergebnis:
Breiten/Höhen-Verhältnis in allen Zeichnungen zu klein
Typische Reproduktionsmerkmale:
- geringere Gleichmäßigkeit und Geschlossenheit der Linien
- stärkere winklige Überlappung
- unterschiedliche Ausrichtung von Winkeln
- falsche Richtung hervorstehender Linien
32
33. Studien aus der Wissenschaft
Verbesserung der Gedächtnisleistung durch Anfertigung von Zeichnungen
unmittelbar nach dem Reiz
Studie an der Universität Waterloo; mehrere Experimente zum freien Erinnern;
relevante Hinweise hinwies.” (Memon & Fraser 2010)
→ Zeugen anhalten, frühzeitig eine Zeichnungen anzufertigen
33
34. Studien aus der Wissenschaft
Anfertigung von Zeichnungen durch Untersucher in Gegenwart des Zeugen
Keine Studienlage, aber Problem der Interaktion zwischen Zeuge und Untersucher:
Verbale Beschreibung ↔ Darstellung → Gegenseitige Angleichung
sehr stark beeinflussen..” (Sharps 2022)
Richard Haines sieht “… Notwendigkeit (…), Augenzeugen zeichnen zu lassen, was sie
gesehen haben.” (Haines 1979)
Zeugen anhalten, eigene Zeichnungen anzufertigen
34
35. Objekt-/Formwahrnehmung
Im Fokus: Beobachtungen in der Nacht mit mehreren Lichtern (Klassiker: Flugzeuge in der Nacht)
Typische Fragen: Ein oder mehrere Objekte? Welche Form?
35
Fall Kausen, 2021 (GEP)
Belgien-Welle 1990
Flugzeugbeispiel
Flugzeugbeispiel
36. Objekt-/Formwahrnehmung
Bevorzugte Form: Gute Gestalt (Einfachheit), Geschlossenheit (geschlossene Formen)
Ambivalenz: Gedächtnis/Erinnerung vs Wiedergabe unbekannter Objekte
Eigene Empfehlungen
Frühzeitige Anfertigung von Zeichnungen durch Zeugen selber (vor Befragung)
Zurückhaltende Beurteilung von beschriebenen Formen und Details (v.a. in der Nacht);
